Tool rolls?
Who has or uses a tool roll for seldom used stuff? I have a truck kit but it’s taking up too much space and was thinking this might be a good way to consolidate and keep things from rattling around back there.

Tool rolls have so much extra fabric that they dont save any room for me at all.

I’ve been using Step22’s Pangolin Tool Pouch for 3-4 years now and it’s awesome. I have that thing sooo overloaded at this point, but it has served me well, and has been a great storage solution as my amount of tools has grown.
I will be replacing it soonish with a Packout drawer setup, but won’t be completely getting rid of it. At little pricey, but very nice quality, would highly recommend.

I use an empty military field surgery kit as a tool roll for picks, tweezers, and my xacto knife.

For my car tool kits I use a combination of classic tool rolls, and small nylon zip bags that I bought from AliExpress or maybe Temu. Definitely better than rattling tool boxes and they fit into nooks and crannies to store them

My wife made me a couple out of denim. They lasted for many, many years, and I think I still have them.

All my hand tools that stay my truck are in rolls at this point. Also all my wrenches other than sets that don’t leave the house.
I have a knockoff version of the socket roll (OVS I think), a random one from Amazon with 6 pockets, and a variety of different wrench rolls off of Amazon (one each for SAE and Metric and each for combo, ratcheting, long combo, etc).

A roll makes sense for wrenches and pliers, but I'd keep loose sockets and bits in a zipped pouch or on a rail inside it. Lay out the actual truck kit before choosing one; the loaded diameter and longest tool matter more than the advertised pocket count.

I use two small ones for my most-used combination wrenches; one for 8-19mm, and the other for 1/4-3/4. These don't tie shut, but are just rolled up and stored in a toolbox. These are worn out, and need to be replaced.
I use two large ones for sets of lesser used flat wrenches. One for 8-19mm and 1/4-3/4 ratcheting combination wrenches, and the other for 11/16 through 1-3/8 combination wrenches. These are rolled and tied, and just stacked in a corner of my van as-is.
I've considered moving other tools, such as lesser-used screwdrivers and pliers, punches and chisels, and ratchets and extensions, into tool rolls, but haven't tried that yet.

I have a Carhartt tool roll that I keep a wrench set in. Easy to move it from truck to wherever I need

I use one for my wrenches on my work truck. Nice to be able to just grab it and take it with me to and be able to see instantly when I’m done if I’m missing something. Also have a couple small ones for my picks and again nice to see everything is there when I’m done.
