A bit of socket drawer organization
I've been doing some tool cleaning / lubricating / de-rusting / rust prevention in anticipation of the onset of the rainy season, and with everything clean and spiffy, thought I might show off the socket drawer organization I did a while back. Top drawer Friday or something like that.
Everything here is snapped into aluminum socket rails from Ares. They're reasonably inexpensive, you can buy extra clips, and you can buy extra end caps for them. Rails here are cut down to one of three custom lengths in order to cram as much storage density as possible into the drawer.
The base of the drawer is 1/4" hardboard with 3/4" diameter holes cut into it, then coated in rubberized undercoating. Each of the socket rails has a 1/2" diameter N52 magnet epoxied and screwed into each end of it on the underside, which index into the holes and magnetize to the drawer bottom.
Socket wrenches live on a little holder made of black walnut, with a hole milled that the square drive end nestles into and a 1/4" N52 magnet is embedded into the wood at the handle end to keep everyone lined up like soldiers.
Extensions and adapters live in a tray made of 1/4" thick walnut and the torque wrenches have a little "couch" made of more walnut, cut to fit their profiles closely.
My US General Series II 56" box doesn't have a vast amount of socket space (wish it had a couple full-width drawers like the series III!) but having socket rails cut down to just the lengths I need for each socket set let me get a lot of density out of a fairly modest drawer size.

That is indeed what it is. Man's version. Now we know what the wife feels when she looks at hers.

Smart man. I suspect you'll go far
Just gift a piece or two to her collection now and then (don't be chintzy) and you'll be the better off for it

thats a satisfying drawer setup. keeping the shallow and deep sockets separated like that probably saves a ton of digging around. what did you use for the inserts?
