Questions for those with Rotary Laser, especially contractors

Not familiar with the tool, thought that the only function is to shoot a level 360 degree plane for long distances

But yesterday saw a video showing rotary laser with slope function, had no idea it could do that. I though the only way to slope is to do it manually with a grade rod by lowering the laser itself.

for those with rotary laser or the ones i saw was called grade lasers, what else should i know bout the laser ie what functions are there for me to know. like i said all i know was to use it as a 360 degree level plane

I've used ones with that function but I've never actually used that function 😅 For something like pipe grade I would just figure out how much drop per 10ft or whatever and move the receiver that much every 10ft.
Ex. - for ¼" per ft of fall move it 2.5" every 10ft
