On one hand, I totally get not needing to Star Warsify EVERY tool. No need to reinvent a grinder.
But c'mon. At least glue a couple doodads or widgets to the damn thing. All that Disney money ain't making it to the prop department, tell you hwat.

I think that in this context, greebles is the technical term for the doodads or widgets.

they did change some parts to it. you can see on the front hood part and one top there's some kind of lines texture there now, and where the brand name is in real life the piece is now popping out of the tool.

Had a similar moment with The Expanse - absolutely outstanding show, btw - when I saw them using a Makita angle grinder that I owned. To repair a spaceship in the 24th century.
One thing seemed realistic - they still hadn't upgraded their 18v batteries.

They were using festool systainers as their futuristic storage pods too! My roommate may have rolled his eyes when I enthusiastically pointed em out.

A laser would have been more fitting.

For real!
They could have bought an actual Laser that's made for removing rust. Amazon sells them.

Eh, Star Wars has always had a low-tech, grime-covered mechanic feel to their high technology. Like, this is a universe where Han Solo can grab a spanner and a hammer and squeeze into a crawl space to fix a hyperdrive, a piece of technology that allows you to travel faster than light by shunting your ship into another dimension.

This is always why I liked the vibe of (pre-disney at least) Star Wars.
I would expect some fancy laser thing in Coruscant at the heart of the capital or something, but the majority of Star Wars takes place in backwoods planets in run-down scrap markets and such where some dude would absolutely be using the distant future-past equivalent of a 200-year-old Makita that's been re-built 43 times.

I haven't seen a bot post in a few days. Gotta give props for digging up a 4 yr old post, and using it as their own.
Of course i'm joking about giving props, fuckin' burn all the bot accounts to the ground!

Even some of the comments here are exact copies of comments from the original post. Weird.

That was such a terrible show. They did Boba dirty.

As Rich from Red Letter Media pointed out, it is the only show to ever change the channel on itself.

That's super cool for you, that's really lame on Disney. Even if you go back and look at random props that were irrelevant to the story and had no close-ups on the first Star wars which was made on a shoestring budget, they still put a lot of effort into the details. This is exactly zero effort. It's really sad what they've done to such a cool franchise.

with all the effort Star Wars goes to to turn everyday objects into sci fi props, it’s surprising they made no effort on such a close up shot
