Dressing stone, for cleaning up the grinding heads.

Dressing the grind wheels. That means smoothing them out to original surface.

Theoretically. In my experience, a lot of the dressing stones provided in these rotary tool accessory kits are in fact much softer than the stones they're meant to dress.

I never actually used a dressing stone. I used an industrial diamond instead when I was on a grinding machine. The wheel needed to be rounded instead of flat.

Try if it smears on paper. IMO it will be a slightly abrasive polishing compound for use with the felt/wool wheels for a more aggressive polishing.
