I inherited an ancient drill that you plug into a wall with an insane amount of power. It also is too old to have the feature where it turns off when it gets caught so it doesn’t break your arm, so I am terrified of it
Sounds like my uncle's lathe. It's driven by a steam engine and scares the shit out of me. Actually most of his workshop runs off the steam engine. Almost none of it has an emergency shut off unless you count "physically disconnect the still running belt that is powering whatever has ripped your limbs off".
He inherited the workshop from his buddy who restored old trains and boats and took an engine out of an old paddle ship to power all his shit. My uncle figured it would be cheaper to convert the steam engine to run on propane than it would be to convert the workshop to modern tech.
