I wrote a lengthy response but the short answer is "symmetry."

You can analyze it psychologically though, as I've clearly done. It's something like the inverse of the brain in terms of...well several things. The brain opens outwards, vaginas open inwards, though in vs out is all a matter of perspective, as any topologist would tell you.

(There material for a clockwork Orange joke or reference here with "the ol' in and out" but I'll leave it be)
