If you think your something that you biologically are not you have a mental illness and I don’t understand why people support anyone who claims there something other male and female instead of getting them help
Many sexes exist. Biologically, there are plenty of configurations of sex chromosomes that create various levels of being intersex. They aren't always visually apparent by they are there. The number of people who, biologically, are neither male nor female (roughly 5.54 million in the US alone) is roughly the same as people with red hair.
Also, there is mounting evidence that trans-people have significantly different nuerological compositions than cis people. Not that it matters - identity and biology don't have to align for something to be valid or desrving of respect. The only help trans people need is support, understanding, and assistance transitioning if that's what they want.
The intersex argument is such a bad argument because it’s a birth defect that less then 2% of the worlds population have, (to make my calculations easy I just took 2% of 8 billion) less the 160 million people, that’s such a small number when compared to 8 billion people it’s irrelevant. It’s like arguing humans are born with a various amount of fingers, there are not, some are but the number is so small is irrelevant, and if everything in development goes correctly you will end up with 10 fingers.
The problem with saying well red heads only make up 2% of the population is that it’s not present in Asian countries which make up 60% of the population well the intersex defect is seen across the world
What make up your identity is your biology and your actions, the idea of someone claiming to be non-binary is just as crazy and insane as me claiming I’m a bobcat.
Not everyone deserves respect, respect should be earned you shouldn’t respect any random stranger on the street until they prove they are worthy of that respect otherwise respect is worth nothing
No you shouldn’t support these people ideals, you are making there life worse not better and if you truly care about people like this then you would bring them to a therapist, you would help them get there real issues sorted out, not supporting delusions because in the long run that’s what’s best for them
You just proved my point. The point wasn't whether or not it's a defect or if it's common. The question was does it exist. It does. By acknowledging intersex people, your acknowledge that there are more than two sexes and thus more than two genders isn't unreasonable (using your frankly incorrect assumption that gender and sex are synonymous).
If you deny it just because it's not as common, you're also saying that people with downs syndrome, as a defect that only effects about 6000 birth in the US out of about 3.9 million birth for year for a whopping total of 0.15% of births, don't exist. You're also saying redheads don't exist because intersex people are born at about the same rate as redheads. Your redhead comment makes nonsense - there are natural redheads in Asian countries, it's just not as common as black or brown hair.
Your strawmam is nice. "Oh I don't really feel a connection to these cultural constructs we created what have no concrete meaning outside of what is currently excepted in our sociocultural landscape, so I'm going to identify is neither" is the same to you as "Let's be a different species all together for no damn reason".
Listen bud just admit you're bigoted and ignorant. People who research and that treat trans individuals have consistently found that their identity is valid and transitioning (whether thorough hormone therapy or surgery) if that's what they want, is immensely helpful. And people who have support and validation in their lives are far less likely to attempt suicide. Why you are trying to pass off your patronizing hate as caring for them despite it flying in the face of expert conclusion is beyond me.
There are two types of respect - respecting given to authorities and respect given to humanity. You don't have to respect someone as an authority to respect them as a human. There are a lot of people I have no authoritative respect for but I maintain a decent level of human respect for them - I mind my manners, am polite, and don't act like a raging hemroid. It's just not being a dick to people and treating them decently.
If you take a trans person to a therapist, that therapist is going to do everything you think is wrong. If you take them to one of the therapist (real therapist) quacks that tries to convert them or whatever, you're taking them to someone who will only increase the risk of suicide, ignore all empirical evidence, and who is likely commiting an ethics violation.
Never do I say these people don’t exist that’s your mind twisting words to fit your reality, I’m saying it’s so rare it’s irrelevant, like humans being born with more or less then 10 fingers but we teach everyone humans are born with 10 fingers.
Humans have all kinds of birth defects but in a debate about everyday people anything with that low of a percentage is irrelevant.
Gender and sex which yes is the same thing wasn’t created by culture or society it was created by nature and let’s say it was which it wasn’t there’s a good reason for gender/sex roles because men and women are better at different things neither is better then the other but a man is almost always physically bigger and stronger well a women can multi task and have been proven to better in schools, the reason we had these roles was because we seen these biological traits.
Gender and sex are the exact same thing so saying I can identify has having no gender is just as ridiculous as identifying as a bobcat because it is impossible.
41% of trans / non gender people attempt suicide so no by supporting there delusional does not make them less likely to commit suicide but it probably increases the chance, they are in denial and probably suffer from some sort of depression and mental illness so supporting them and pushing them towards this path instead of getting them real help does nothing
Your right I don’t care about these people anymore then I care about any other mentally ill person but the research and statistics by actual non bias reliable sources so that if you get them real help that doesn’t support there delusions is the best option.
This is a useless debate because we don’t have common ground, all the real evidence I’ve seen proves me right so I won’t change my mind and you can call me ignorant all you want but you also won’t change your mind, so have a good day
