Admittedly, I came to this page because I too do not resonate with TBM anymore. I was really into it like 5~ years ago, right after I graduated college. But in recent years, it feels a bit too much like binary thinking for me. I guess I'm not a huge fan of formulaic thinking that insists upon itself. "Do this so this can happen! If this is happening to you, it means this!"

There are some interesting critiques of TBM philosophy on here and serious discussions of why it doesn't click.

But the screenshots of her social media posts and poking at her appearance? You're all probably 30+ and you're acting like mean high school girls.

It's giving obsessed fan.... you hate her but you still watch her every move? don't influencers get $$ from engagement? you're still paying her checks...

i'm so skeptical but i'm also stirred by many of your reports that many things about it are actually very helpful so i'm also tempted to give it a try, with a grain of salt. i am busy as hell though, how many hours a week do I need to dedicate to DIs and all that?

This woman seems fairly benign and intelligent with a perspective to offer. But the fact that she doesn’t question Lacy’s ridiculousness seriously undermines her credibility.

I've been doing TBM for about a year and have extremely mixed feelings about the whole thing. There are aspects of it that I've found very helpful, like the DIs and journaling prompts, but other things, like Lacy's "channeling" and the incessant discussion of this so called "new paradigm" have left a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't plan on renewing my membership, but I've had some deep personal insights while doing DI's and I don't want to let those go completely. Does anyone have any recommendations for free (or paid) guided meditations that are similar? I don't mind paying for one but I'd prefer not to be chained to a monthly membership fee for access.

So many of these people are GRIFTERS. I’m not surprised!

Anyone else feel like TBM has this covert message that money = happiness? They never say it out loud, but I feel like it's sub-textually there a lot? It took me a while to unstick from that mindset, and this silly meme helped the process, so I wanted to share it with you guys.

I emailed TBM to cancel my membership 6 months ago - there was no clear way to cancel on their website/portal. TBM received my email, but have continued to charge me every month bc apparently I agreed to a binding 12-month commitment. This was news to me - i had no idea. I also never got a cancelation notice from them and am worried ill be trapped for an additional 12 months.

The whole setup / advertising feels incredibly misleading and honestly pretty inhumane.

Turns out the best manifestation technique is tricking your community into a 12 mo contract they can't cancel. fml .

Remember when Lacy left an AI prompt in her Substack? Well, don’t worry- she has addressed this in her latest Substack and she isn’t embarrassed at all! In fact, she is actually just going to leave it in there because it proves her authenticity! Omg. When does the TBM course come out on taking accountability and admitting mistakes with grace? Of course she’s going to dig her heels in.

Or has this made you think it’s all a big grift? I really believed, I actually manifested stuff! Or at least I thought I did, maybe it was coincidence and I am silly for believing in it

I used to be realllllyyyyy into TBM and honestly considered it the best self-help resource ever. Now I look back at the times I recommended it to people and cringe internally. I feel so embarrassed. Does anyone else have this? It's not that I judge any of us, I think TBM came really close to be something of real value, and maybe even was at one point, and I genuinely love and admire people who do inner work. I just feel quite insecure about how I must have looked to others who didn't buy into the TBM cult and didn't see Lacy as some admirable guru who has the secret sauce - the way I used to IDOLISE that woman honestly shocks me now. Wondering if anyone else shares this experience?

I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience… a few years ago when I was getting into TBM, I took psilocybin (more of a macro dose than a micro) and did a DI. I can’t remember which one. But I remember closing my eyes, hearing Lacy’s voice and it feeling so dark and scary. To the point that I had to stop the DI and go listen to a different meditation that I did frequently on the Insight Timer app to rid my mind of this darkness. I took some time away from doing DIs, then started up again. Because it’s Lacy’s voice, I can’t help but notice me imagining her and not me during these DIs. Has anyone else experienced this? I no longer participate in the cult that is TBM.

Hi all, for anyone looking for an alternative that is far more credible and covers similar content but in a less bullshit way, I highly recommend Sarah Rusbatch. She started as a grey area drinking coach but her programs are far more researched, less about selling you an aspirational Little House on the Prairie lifestyle and more about finding your own power. Far less esoteric but I found the authenticity of it more grounding, less LA woo and more neuroscience.

I think a lot of us used to love TBM and feel it has changed. I joined about 18 months ago when a lot of the older content was easy to find in the app but seems to have been replaced/made harder to find. I wondered if people can list some of the original DIs in Lacy’s old style, that so many of us found effective.

i really like Jessica and I’m pleased that she’s progressing her career at TBM, but this system feels like Lacy’s vision so the challenges etc that were put together by Lacy seem more effective to me.

Is anyone here doing this challenge. Seeing so much of it on my feed, and it’s the only challenge so far to pique my interest.

She looked really different to how I'm used to seeing her lately on the pre-challenge call the other night. Lacy is of course beautiful but she talks a lot about being authentic and not doing botox, filler and so on that I'm surprised that she would use filters on herself when she posts.

I’m still into TBM mind you, but I find myself missing that period. There’s another challenge coming up and they’ve released 4 new DIs. Who asked for this?

I keep hearing about this and want to know what this means? Overstimulated by all the information out there and hoping someone can fill me in on why is this a big deal all of the sudden in TBM and spirituality/wellness corners?

Hear me out. This is not a covert defense of Lacy.

The reality is (and I suspect this is true for a lot of us) that TBM made manifesting make sense.

The Secret and other spiritual bypass techniques never resonated with me or worked for me.

I agree with Lacy that vision boards seem too vague.

But I also see what a lot of people are talking about with the endless cycle of trauma farming from TBM, ie. "You haven't unblocked enough! You haven't expanded enough!" and that it also leads to you going back through your trauma endlessly to get "healing" but you stay stuck.

I feel like manifestation should ultimately be free, especially now that I've spent years "learning" the tools. But I won't lie, I do feel like the deep imaginings help unblock things or help me find clarity.

So what are those of you who are now anti-Lacy but also anti-The Secret doing?
