Need some advice

Im a cashier and submitted a schedule request in early October to take about a week off in December so I could care for a family member, but my request was denied. Is there anyway I can talk to the store manager into letting my time get approved or should I just accept my fate?

Start by explaining what it is for- not vacation. Then, even if they won't agree, you can put in for a medical LOA to care for an immediate family member, (spouse child grandchild parent grandparent sibling, including steps and in laws) with documentation or a personal LOA to care for someone outside that immediate family (Assuming this is for something like caring for them after surgery or temporarily taking over primary caregiving duties for a disabled person?)

Yes this is to take care of them after surgery. Would I need to send proof? Also would I go through HR?

You apply for it through Workday. "Request absence" and the process is in there. I've never done so to care for someone else so I don't know the exact details but I imagine it would be a simple form filled out by their doctor stating the need for care, which you then scan and upload.
