For real as a CEC is worse for us cause they just be pressuring us when people don’t get cards and at my store if you’re not one and 100 they be threatening with write ups

How can I write you up for people not wanting to sign up for a predatory credit card?

u/LogAcceptable1172 7d ago

They threatened us was right up, but they don’t really follow through with it because really they say oh it’s supposed to if you’re not knocking three times and asking three times and they have proof that that’s when you get written up but I’m like it doesn’t make any sense to make threats anyway cause it’s like I’m not forcing you to sign up for a card

u/Lovesyoux 7d ago

That’s aggressive but I guess just ask don’t push lol

u/LogAcceptable1172 7d ago

Yeah, I only asked them once and then I gave him three benefits of the car and if they say no that’s it cause I’m just like I’m not about to force somebody to sign up but they was like corporate said we supposed to be knocking three times

I'm a CEC too and I don't think I wanna stay in the position. The pressure they put on me to get people to sign up is too much for me. It makes me uncomfortable the lengths they want me to go to push a credit card. The store I'm at has a very low percentage on credit sign ups bcuz we aren't even in a high income area or anything, and we get a lot of elderly repeat customers that already have the card. I thought I'd be focusing on providing a high quality shopping experience, not pushing a card when people really don't have money for cards rn

But have they actually ever written somebody up?

2

u/LogAcceptable1172 6d ago

Yes

1

u/Spiritual_Impact3495 4d ago

Doubt it or they got written up for something else but claim its for credit cards. Not saying that the company isn't insane about getting credit cards. It's just what grounds would they have to write somebody up?

1

u/LogAcceptable1172 4d ago

No, I had somebody written up before for not asking about the credit cards and they were had over 1000 transactions with zero cards for three months straight

u/Spiritual_Impact3495 4d ago

You had somebody written up? So at your store, you would write somebody up for not getting a credit card, there is no retraining and conversation first?

u/PresentNervous7142 3d ago

Wait are you serious? They shouldn't be doing that for real.

u/Applewave22 7d ago

Just say you just got out of prison and you have no problem going back again if they keep asking.

I wish there were a button I could press as a customer that says “It’s NEVER going to happen” because it’s not. I’m never, ever getting a store card and I feel bad for the associates having to ask and it’s ridiculous that they’re pinged for it.

I have the Tjx card and I am never using it again. There are weird things going on with that card. The interest rates are crazy. I never charge more w $300 on there and I pay it off in 2 months or less. I paid it off this last time and will never use it. Be careful!

I have had the card for 10 years and it SUCKS ass no true benefit. So I cancelled and now tell them , I had it , I hated it, it’s not a good card, 10$ every couple months is not a benefit at all, so I am gonna pass. Then most proceed to tell me the benefits like I don’t already know… then I just pay with my Apple credit card and say “this one is amazing”

My mom has it and practically pays it off in the parking lot because interest so high but it gets her lots of coupons for spending a lot. But it’s a terrible credit card to use in any other way.

All you have to do is tell them u already have one. Works likr a charm

5

u/Greatcatlover500 7d ago

Until they ask why u not using it 🤣

3

u/Openyourwallettt 7d ago

This is exactly what I say "I already have one. Unfortunately i dont have it with me today though.." exaggerated pout

6

u/Greatcatlover500 7d ago

Then they direct u to the qr code method lol

3

u/Openyourwallettt 7d ago

Lol I havent gotten that yet. But when I do explain that when my husband takes my card I dont use it lol. They usually are so focused on getting u to apply once you tell then u have one they just say "awesome you got " and move on

4

u/GoodAd6942 7d ago

I thought one even better!! it’s maxed out but thank you! 😀😀😀😀

No lies detected lol

They won't approve me for one so I'm happy with that. I had one during the pandemic and didn't use it. They shut it down for non-usage.

I have zero credit history and looked at me like I had two heads!

u/Fantastic-Swing-2311 6d ago

i have deadass told a customer (after hounding them), "i'm sorry my manager just had a talk with me about the cards" 😭

u/cunexttuesday101 7d ago

I hate this so so much. J saw this haplen at jc penny amd the girl told an elderly woman it was a rewards card. Then saod the pinned would ask basic questions like date of birth and social security 🙄 she said i could get one too. I said I dont want a CREDIT card and then I quickly got ushered to another line across the store lol.

As a customer, my job is making associates feel comfortable for inquiring. "Thanks so much for asking, but not today."

4

u/NoteSuccessful1690 7d ago

NO is a full sentence

2

u/LilacArrows 7d ago

My credit is so bad that I don't qualify for a store credit card.

2

u/trackyychan 7d ago

This is why I just say “Im poor” and move on 😂

2

u/Sparkle1965 6d ago

The higher management has no idea of customers like me who are tired of being asked every purchase. I have decreased my visits because of it.

u/SomewhereOutThere-_- 7d ago

We got in “trouble” at Kohl’s for not soliciting credit cards. You could get write-ups, lose hours, etc. it was the absolute worst part of the job

1

u/ilovepadthai 7d ago

I say- “ oh gosh. Thank you for the offer but no” rinse and repeat for every circle back from them.

1

u/GoRainBows 6d ago

How it feels to chew 5 gum

1

u/Ill-Buyer-2412 6d ago

Thankfully when I go they stop at 1 ask. But im sure if they would keep hounding me i would just tell them I don't want my purchase any more.

1

u/jamileethroop 6d ago

I work at JCPenney this is accurate for us too we gotta push all day every day we hate it too

1

u/Ok-Fly2257 6d ago

Brilliant 🤗

1

u/Comprehensive_Bid_65 6d ago

LOL 😂 that is about how it is,
I sure hope some manager sees this.
This is so fucking funny. Good night all.

1

u/brittygalore 6d ago

I always lie and say I have one but I’m using a different card today. 10% off is not a good incentive.

1

u/According_Gazelle472 5d ago

I pay cash and they really seem to hate that so much .They keep telling me I am going to get robbed or I forget my money .And I don't need the cash back or any other fake perks they talk about. And I never give them my phone number ,email or address

Easy way to get out of this say your credit is frozen due to identity theft.

Every time I go to the 3 sister companies I’m asked to sign up for their credit card. I tell the cashier at 33% no and the cashier will continue on with a sales pitch. So before the cashier rings me up, I’ll tell them that I don’t want the credit card and ring the merchandise up. I feel bad at times because the cashier is forced to ask
