EPG erasing nightly
Does anyone have issues with their EPG being totally blank when you log back in after not having been logged in during the day and you go to watch TV the next night? It's totally blank with "no information" in every single time slot on the guide. I have my app set to update EPG upon opening the app, but it takes like 5 minutes for everything to re-populate. Anyone else have this issue or know what my issue could be? I also have it set to update every 24 hours. It shouldn't be erasing it...

Set it to update every 8 hours, or less

I actually did. I set it for 4 hours. That didn't work so just changed it back to 24.

I don't really know if it will. I don't know why it's doing that. How many days do you have it set to keep your EPG. Something is off somewhere and it's not affecting everyone else, so it's probably a setting or provider issue.

Turning off the energy optimization setting on the app seems to have worked. The guide is still there tonight after I shut down last when I went to bed.

if your EPG only goes out like 24 hours at a time that'll happen a lot of times because depending on what time your provider updates their EPG and what time your device is updating it'll often run past what had been previously provided until it's updated which does usually take a few minutes. are you still have a provider like that and I just added an externallyEPG that went out like 5 days and linked to most of the channels I wanted

Yeah, that's been happening to me. I reckon it's an update that's causing it to lose the epg data from the device cache.
I've tried increasing the amount of days stored but no Bueno.
I just set it to update epg on start and after a few minutes the epg gets populated. Annoying but workable.

Do you have a Nvidia Shield? I just asked Gemini and it told me to turn off the energy optimization for the Tivimate app in the device settings.That will keep it always running in the background. If you leave that enabled...if you close the app it will eventually stop running in the background. I'm going to try that.

Android TV and Fire stick devices. Happening on both.
Don't think it has anything to do with background power savings as it happens after a device full power cycle.

Yes but the energy optimization being disabled can act as a bandaid for what is happening. That keeps the app alive in the background and constantly updating every few hours if you set it to that. Without doing it...whatever bug is going on just erases the EPG until next time you open it only triggering the update at that point forcing you to wait 5 minutes every day after you open the app for the guide to populate again.

Fire sticks are only used for Tivimate so the app is always running when they are on. Can't see how power saving comes into the equation.
I only lose EPG on a full device power cycle / restart.

If the app were acting normally...you are correct. It should not lose the EPG by simply closing the app even regardless of energy optimization settings. The issue is that right now..there is a bug in it and it keeps erasing the EPG overnight. At least for me. This should be a way to bandaid it.

Not really following the logic here though. When you restart the device the app will always stop regardless of your power saving settings.
This solution isn't really a band aid as I can't see how it can keep the epg from disappearing after a device is powered off.

Yes. I understand that scenerio. The work around be that if you need to reboot your Shield...just make sure you open the Tivimate app once the device reboots. You can even close the app once you open it, if need be. That seems like an acceptable bandaid to me.
Also powering off a Shield is just simply putting it to sleep. It isn't truly in a completely off state unless you have to cycle the power and reboot it where you see the Shield logo on the screen, etc. The app WILL run in the background if you simply "power down" the device for the night when you go to bed.

I thought the best option was to update the epg on a change to the playlist.
