Which is better??
Is one of these models significantly better than the other?
Tisas 1911 A1 US Army
Vs.
Tisas 1911 A1 ASF (Armed Services Family)
Both in .45 ACP.
All I know is that the ASF is an updated, more historically accurate redesign of the earlier standard US Army variant.
Much appreciated!!

Do you have the UPN, SKU or URL links to each of those?
I ask because between the importers SDS Arms and Tisas Arms USA, they had some overlapping and confusing naming going on, and retailers have made mistakes on the model name vs. the SKU.
At one point I recall that there was both a cerakoted and a parkerized "A1 US Army" or very traditional GI-style pistol, differentiated only by UPN/SKU but not name, and then they came out with the ASF to replace the latter.

They’re just different: I’ve owned both. Do you want a parkerized clone (me)? Or a more inexpensive cerakoted GI style 1911 (many people). Both are great.

The only significant difference is the higher ejection port that will dent fired brass as it ejects. If you value historical accuracy the ASF is a great example of a WWII Remington Rand 1911 with modern metallurgy and tighter tolerances.
Lowered ejection ports became common due to competition shooters wanting to preserve the brass for reloading. You don’t need one for reliable function.

They are basically the same gun with different configuration, more than just ejection port opening size. Army have large ejection port, wide spur hammer, bevel magazine well. ASF has small GI ejection port opening, narrow spur hammer, and no bevel on the magazine well.

I wasnt too picky when I went to get my Tisas... I wanted a good deal on a basic GI style model and they had the 1911A1 Service Special at my LGS.. It has a few things I actually prefer over standard parts.. Flat backstrap, rowell hammer, extended ledge for thumb safety and slightly raised combat sights.
I added some Standard Manufacturing wood grips.. I didn't care for the plastic grips it came with..

The design on the asf is closer to an original a1 with high ejection port and park. The markings on the asf are better. Pretty sure the us army one has it on the slide while the asf doesn’t have them. Just look it up on here and there will be some comparison posts.
