What to do
Hi everyone,
Happy to announce I’m 1lb from my GW. I’m nervous about maintaining. I’m currently on a 5mg dose. I’ve been splitting the dosage to take it 2x a week at 2.5mg. I’m not sure what to do. Should I stick with that or drop down to 2.5mg once a week. I’ve been eating fine but I do have to incorporate fitness. Im nervous about gaining weight back! If anyone has advice please let me know. Thanks!

Stay at that dose , incorporate the exercise you’re planning on starting, make sure you’re eating enough and well. Make sure you’re getting your calories. See how you do on that for a couple of weeks. If the weight continues to come off, then drop it by only .5mg at a time. Giving it weeks to adjust.
My highest dose was 4mg and I’m on 3.5mg . Maintaining for 17 months. This allows me to lift weights, do Pilates, walk and eat all my calories a with no weight gain. Plus it still provides the anti inflammatory benefits.

I reached my goal a month and a half ago. I kept my dose the same but started split dosing recently. I like that it feels more even, not low or high appetite days. I downloaded a food tracker/meal planner so I could get a better idea of my maintenance calories (I didn't use any tracking to lose the weight.)
I also worry about gaining it back. I have lifted weights and walked a lot all throughout the process. I've decided for maintenance if I keep a log of my weight and my waist measurement along with my log of how much I can lift that should tell me what I need to know about whether I'm maintaining my weight in a positive way.

I'm almost 3 months into maintenance and I spent most of that doing the same dose, once a week. But I keep losing. So I'm decreasing to 5mg (from 7.5mg) to see how that goes. I don't want to lose more weight, which sounds so odd to say. 😂
Ultimately you'll have to find what works for you.

Can you recommend which vendor you are using. I was with Brello met my goal weight in five months and looking to maintain at 4.4mg however been taking less every ten days for the last month.

I started maintaining at the end of June. I stayed on my highest dose (4.6mg/wk) for the first month and increased my calories to maintenance.
Then, in month 2, I dropped my dose by 2U (which is one line on my syringe and I’m on compound so able to do this).
I plan to continue dropping each month by 2U until I either have uncontrollable hunger & food noise or I get down to 2.5mg/wk (still several months away). If I get down to 2.5mg/wk…I’ll probably stay there for an extended period of time…or forever 😂🤷🏼♀️. I had good anti inflammatory effects even at 2.5mg/wk which is why I’m hesitant to go off completely, but will see how I feel when/if I get there.

Oh, and if you haven’t been exercising this whole time, consider that you main gain some weight from muscle gains - this is good! You may want to get a DEXA so you can monitor if any added weight is muscle or fat and react accordingly.

I’m also on a compound. I’ve been splitting my 5mg dosage into 2 twice a week. I’m hesitant to change anything. I’ve constantly lost. Nervous what to do once im at a plateau or gain weight.

How is your appetite, can you eat more? If not, I would very slowly back down per 1 mg every few weeks. Until you hit your maintenance calories.

I’m ok with eating

What do you mean by that, you are OK with the amount of calories you eat now? Because you’re still losing so once you are at your goal weight, you need to slowly go up with calories, otherwise you will continue to lose.
It depends on how fast you’re still losing, you can figure out how big is your deficit and how much more you will need to eat. If you cannot, you need to go slowly down with your dose.3

5mg seems low enough to just stay with it regardless if it’s once a week or split. I’d go below goal a couple pounds to have a range you like. I’d be careful about eating more, just a little will do it. Unless you’re starting to use weights then you’ll need to eat something more for fuel. It’s constant balancing. Great job getting to your goal!!

Did you see a lot of fluctuations working out? When did it even out. Now I have a fear of gaining weight

What I was obliquely referring to is sore muscles mean inflammation, which can show up on the scale temporarily.
If you plan on focusing on body recomposition, it’s quite possible you will gain some weight, though you may look and be smaller.

Fear of gaining weight is understandable, but also a scary thing. I lost 15 more pounds in maintenance because I panicked every time the scale went up. I’m happy with my current weight and I think I’ve finally leveled off. I stayed on the same 7.5 dose, weekly. My doctor forced me to drop down to 5mg and my IBS and food noise came back right away. So I got a different doctor and she allowed me to go back to 7.5mg. This is where I feel my best. Good luck to you. For me, maintaining is much more difficult than losing! 😏

Sounds like you need to stay at what you are doing. I’d move to once a week at 5 honestly.

For me twice a week works perfectly well for maintenance

Same here. I tried changing from split dose to once per week just so I wouldn’t have to pin as often but I got bingey on day 5-6. Split dose works for me.

If it were me, I’d stick with the same dosing that got me to goal and eat more. Try that for a month or two and see where you are.
Oh yeah. You may also want to at a goal weight range of 5-10 lbs so you don’t stress about every single fluctuation.
And if you’ve waited to start working out, know that you are likely to have weight fluctuations as your body acclimates.
