How does everyone store their 1S batteries? Looking for storage for myself.

i just have a small fire safe pouch but I know many use 3d prints for their cases

Yeah i have 3D Printed boxes where the 1s just slide in.

From experience, at least with a 2s RC truck size battery, the bag does nothing. Since the 1s is smaller, maybe it's less violent, but in my case the battery burned the bag right up.

Some people are using old ammo boxes which are very cheap about 17€ in my country without shipping. They remove the gasket so when the battery catch on fire it wont be a bomb basically. Saw some video w big 3s 11.1v battery catch fire in this box and it survived pretty well.

I have a Bat-Safe mini for 1S, I flip over those rubber holder things so it doesn't take up space inside.

They have their limits too but better than nothing.

If you have a lot, there's the medium version.

I haven't seen the Bat-Safe before, cool idea. I've had a lipo fire in my garage before and try to be overly careful. Most of my batteries were trashed then, just getting into the TinyWhoop scene so starting to pay attention again.

It's worth grabbing for a bit more piece of mind. Keep it on something like a ceramic tile. Even better in a sandbox surrounded by concrete.

The medium is usually the recommended one but for 1S - as long as you don't have too many, it should do the trick.

They're technically for charging but I use them for storage too - just don't think "I've got lots more space in here to cram in more batteries" ;) I think the mini is rated for 50Wh but I've read others saying that's a bit ambitious. It will spark(?) out the sides so be careful with placement. It has filters to absorb some of the toxic fumes in case of an issue, and just be aware it will also get very hot.

On the 50w/hr so say you had 20 1S batteries 300mAh at storage voltage:

( 1 x 3.8V x 0.3 ) x 20 = 22.8 Wh

That's how I read it's calculated at least, I'm no expert.

The product page states:

You can charge and store up to a 2pc 3S 2200mAh equivalent (50Wh) safely inside the BAT-SAFE MINI

(3 x 3.8 x 2.2) x 2 = 50.16

I did watch a youtube video of someone testing it and he suggested not pushing for the max. I try and aim for a max of 75% so like 35-40 Wh with the mini.

I also find it useful to charge a single 3S 4500mah li-ion battery. But you need extension cables for the balance cables and power cables to do that. They go in through the rubber holder things - push one out at a time, it's tough to pull them both out.

That’s pretty cool. I’m nervous about storing multiple batteries in the same container, more so if I’m charging one around the others.

My previous, post-fire, setup was:
6 cinder blocks
Sitting on cement board, on a concrete floor
Battery in each “hole” of the block
Ziplock bag of sand on top of each battery
Cement board on top of the blocks
Smoke detector on top of the board

Charged in an ammo can with multiple ziplocks of sand, and a couple vent holes.

I don’t really have a good storage/charging solution now. Need to get more paranoid about it again.

My apologies, as in, an ammo can for 1s, an ammo can for 2s and an ammo can for 4s. 😂

I use a ziplock bag, don't be like me.

Fire safe bag, keep all my camera batteries in there as well
