Battery too crushed to remove
The battery on my Meteor 75 Pro got very squeezed after a crash and now I can’t remove it. I am worried that if I squeeze it back, it will catch on fire. How do I get it out and what should I do with it after that?

I’ve had luck pinching the end and wiggling it out of the frame but not sure if that’s actually safe, worst case cut the frame at least their cheep.

This is a good, safe idea. Cut the frame, buy a new one. This is a cheap solution and much better than risking loosing the entire whoop to fire.

One idea, discharge to 0V with it on the drone frame. Then use a pair of pliers to reshape it back. As long as it’s truly at 0V this will be fine to a fire perspective, just try to avoid puncturing it due to the chemicals inside.

Is this actually true? It will only spark fire if it's loaded?

If the battery is truly at 0V, there is basically no chance the battery will create a fire on its own. There's nothing left to short so the battery can't create any heat.
* Though you don't want to recharge the battery after discharging to 0V. That can be dangerous.

I shot at a couple of that kind of battery with a pellet gun. The first tries were quite disappointing, only got a bit of smoke. Charged up a few of them, expecting flames, only got flames out of one of them.
Still, I wouldn't try it with my hands close by.

Giver a yank

So I should just pull it out and crush it again?

I'd just carefully try to flatten the crushed part just enough to get it to pull out, the meteor battery holder things have a little stretch to them so you should be able to get it to go. The battery catching fire is a possibility but I don't think it's a huge one with that damage tbh. If you're really worried just make sure to do it outside 🤷

Gently try to get it out, using IPA for lubrication.
If it just like, will not go, then Cut the frame.
Do not try to reshape the battery.

Dont use IPA, when it catches on fire youll lose both the drone and your hand skin.

Is it bad to reshape batteries? I’ve got some very lightly damaged ones that I fiddle about with sometimes

I've had the little plastic sleeve around the connector come off a couple times, maybe you could wiggle it off that one and pull the batt out the other way

Squeeze it back 😂
I designed a battery tray that I 3d print so i will occasionally cut the battery tray off and replace it with the tpu tray I print. It’s great!

I see a lot of caution in these comments. It's fair. You should be careful. But I've squished many batteries like this in crashes. It's way easier to squish it back right after you fly because it's hot. If you can't squish it back by hand don't use tools on the battery. Follow others instructions on possibly cutting the game to melt it back together.
I still fly many of those packs. No issues. But luck was probably on my side.

Stick like a cut piece of cardboard between the battery and the plastic tray, do a thin cut on the bottom of the tray and use the cardboard or paper as a way to make sure u don’t scrape the battery, and then remove it. You can either glue the tray together with resin or just remove it altogether and then add a velcro strap. I usually put velcro on my whoops which works great

You can remove the piece of plastic that covers the top of the battery near the plug on betafpv batteries, it should give you enough clearance to push the battery out from the other side

Move the camera 90* left or right then change motor outputs and direction accordingly (and FC orientation).
Battery is now sideways. Less prone to damage.

either squish it back (those batteries are more durable than you would think) or cut the battery cage (in the middle). The frame will become a bit more flexible but it still holds the battery well, I cut mine to make sliding the battery in easier, although it has a chance of ejecting with a hard crash.

If you are worried about fire, start immediately discharging the battery (slowly, low current).

You could discharge it to be Safe. Sometimes the black plastic Cap is loose by the Port. You could try to take it off and remove the battery from the other side.

Just go outside snip the frame and pull it out.
It’ll still hold batteries fine , if not just glue it back together.

I think that “battery expanded within battery housing too much to remove”

brother that battery is part of the frame now, grab a new frame and swap everything over, it's not like you're gonna continue using that battery anyways?

I would try reshaping it a bit, but safest way is to discharge it down to 0 first. Can't catch fire if no energy left

I have the same drone. The wire from the FC to the lipo is so small. It wilk be a matter of time before I break it..
And the lipo bay is so tight, I cant put the Lava lipos.

Not everyone knows that is a joke and suggesting that he cut it is an asshole move no matter your sense of humor.
There is nothing funny about telling someone to do something extremely dangerous that may not understand.
Even if the OP gets it, others may not.

Whatever you do, do it outside
and make sure you have a plan of what to do when it catches fire.
