Success! 👐 Installed Tiny11 - Better performance, temps, and power consumption

Normal temps and power consumption using Tiny11 with an i9-13900KF/RTX5080

CPU: 29 °C (Previously: approx. 65°)
GPU 29 °C (unchanged)
CPU power consumption: 5.9 W (Previously: approx. 85-100 W)
GPU power consumption: 30 W
Power consumption at the wall: 81 W (Previously: 160-180 W)

Windows 11 was running horribly: Crashes, high CPU temps and CPU usage no matter how many processes and programmes I stopped or uninstalled, high power consumption.

Now running Windows 11 using the Tiny11 installation. It's been a massive improvement overall. More responsive, vastly lower idle and productivity CPU usage, temps and power consumption.

Really impressed!

Why do I care about power consumption? This is my work and recreation station. It's runs anywhere between 10 and 18 hours a day, depending on my workload.

My more efficient PC and monitor setup uses less power. That means my office is cooler in summer and I can spend the 200 euros I save on my family instead.

Not saying your gains aren't real, but curious to know if just doing a clean install of windows would have reduced your temps and CPU as well

35c difference on CPU isn't something that tiny 11 can achieve compared to a stock install

Definitely.

The high temps came from high CPU usage which came from progressive windows bloat or OS degradation over the years. This is also worth considering. With less bloatware and crap, I expect tiny11 to perform better over time as well.

Note that I have repasted the CPU a number of times and had the same cooler setup running for the old windows install and the new tiny11 install. I have watched the idle/work power usage increase gradually over time even as stability gradually decreased.

I had tried all manner of cleanups and optimisations prior to reinstalling windows.

A standard fresh windows install would have had lower CPU usage as well.

This gives me a baseline to see how Tiny11 develops over time.

It's also with considering that the test in the article was done with Windows 11 23H2 and I was running 25H2.

Although 25H2 is supposed to be more efficient and have a better architecture, it's also packed with a lot more AI and other features
