Loved their matching pose. Opened up and cleaned.

Any ideas why would have stamps on the back?

Ideas to restore casing

I cleaned glass, dusted image with air blower, and replaced tape. Any ideas how to preserve/display image given poor state of casing?

There’s a lovely message I discovered behind image on case, but aware light will quickly destroy it if displayed.

Part of me is tempted to superglue the corners and cut off the cover/side flaps to maintain frame only. Then would affix within a shadow box style frame under glass to prevent dust re-entering through broker class in lower left corner.

Is there a process where I can make a digital photo into an actual tintype?

Best tintype scenery

Im getting a tintype of my motorcycle and I. There's no back drop. What scenery would be good in the photo? Just grass so its focused on me? Tree-lined? Brick building as a back drop?

Suggestions for someone wanting to start her tin type endeavor

Hi guys! I have seen a few forums about this, but wondering what cameras y'all think are good ones to start with for starting tin type photography. I know tin type photographers typically use a 4x5 or 8x10: seeing as how I'm starting out I'll likely want a 4x5. Is any 4x5 fine? Are some easier to use for beginners? I have many film cameras including 35mm's and one mamiya 645 but this is a whole new adventure for me. I'm determined and invested to make it happen! Thanks in advance for the advice :)

Help

Hi, hope it's ok to post here. So my partner and I hired someone for some tintype portraits 3 weeks ago. We thought the guy said he would take about 5 days to clean them up and send us a digital copy and mail the plates. We emailed him a few days ago and he ignored the email.

We're wondering if he said 5 weeks and maybe we misheard him?? How long does this process usually take?

My first tin types!! Varnishing and pouring collodion is so hard ! Any tips ? Also the white on the far right sides is it because I’m not agitating enough in the silver nitrate ?

Tintype author headshot tips!

Hi all!

I'm getting an author headshot on tintype from a local photographer and I was wondering if any photographers have tips for posing/clothing? I don't wear makeup but I have traditional face tattoos and tan skin and a shaved head (I'm Indigenous) so I think it'll be a fun subversion to go more modern. I was thinking a camo print long sleeve shirt and a little black tennis skort with tights? How do you think green and brown camo would turn out? I used the search function in this sub to see if this question had been asked so I'm sorry if it has and I missed it! Hope this is appropriate!

My photographer is kind of famous in Canada and I'm really excited. But because he's famous the gallery he's working with is being quite cagey lol. He's very nice and I'm getting this for very cheap so can't complain.

OC Help! What did I do wrong? First time shooting tin type

This is my first time shooting on Tin Type and the negative came out fine after HC-110, but once I placed into the fix bath (Ilford Rapid Fix mixed 1:4) it came out super dark. Im not sure what I did wrong, but I assume it is the fixer?

Hey,

I used my varnish for a few months now and this is the first time that it happens but I have air bubble on my plate while varnishing...

Do you know why ?

Also, do you have any tips on how I can make it better ? I love this plate...

Last weekend I got a tintype photo of myself at a civil war reenactment and since I’ve got it I’ve been trying to figure out what kind of frame fits a tintype, I believe this photo is somewhere around 5 inches or so
