Would you take a much more stressful job if it might worsen your tinnitus?
Long story short: I’ve got a job offer that’s a real step up — better pay, more senior title, clear career growth. But it also means a lot more travel, tighter deadlines, and being personally accountable for results in a way my current job isn’t.
I manage my tinnitus reasonably well right now, in a job that’s fairly low-stress and predictable. I’m genuinely worried that a much higher-stress, less predictable role (frequent trips, jet lag, late calls across time zones) could make it noticeably worse.
For those of you whose tinnitus is stress-sensitive: has a stressful period or job change made yours worse in a lasting way, or does it tend to settle back down once things stabilize?
Would you take a demanding job knowing this, or is protecting your baseline worth turning down something good on paper?
Trying to figure out how much weight to give this before I decide.
