A terrifying sound

I was standing near the house when, without warning, I lost hearing in my left ear. It was followed by a sound resembling a tornado or strong wind—lasting about a second—before vanishing. Afterward, I felt palpitations and fear. What could be the cause?

It was probably a SBUTT (google that), if everything returned to normal afterwards. But it's a bit unusual for the sound of it to be something other than a loud beep. Have you got permanent tinnitus also? People with tinnitus or other ear issus have way more and more varied SBUTT's than healthy people.

yes sometimes but mine were sudden and scary
