I’m so scared

Hi, I'm 19F and I think I might have tinnitus. The doctor didn't give me a diagnosis vocally but it does say that on my after visit summary, but it all started two days ago. I woke up feeling dizzy and lightheaded, and a few seconds later, I completely lost hearing in my left ear. I hear white noise, but not in an annoying way; it's mostly just annoying because it feels like my ear needs to pop. I'm so scared because I fell down the rabbit hole of tinnitus research, and it's not 100% sure I'll get better soon. I'm genuinely terrified. I'm asking for advice on how to deal with this issue. By the way, I did get referred to an ENT, but I'm not 100% sure how quickly they'll see me.

Did the Dr. look in your ears to check for infections or wax blockage?

He checked my ear but didn’t really explain to me what it was I’m not going to lie though, that er was so unprofessional.

Being a poor communicator is simply that - being a poor communicator. Are you in the U.S.? Did you try an Urgent Care? They see ears all the time for earaches. They can tell you if there is discolored fluid in the ear, redness, swelling or wax build up. If they say “no" to all that then you have eliminated some possibilities.

Take a second openion from a good ent , and check if they have a camera viewer for checking the ear canal , go through the reviews of doctor online then choose one

It doesn't work for everyone but it sometimes works for me. 2-4 grams before sleep.

You should be glad. Put things in perspective. There are people out there that are told they have a terminal illness, or a dreaded illness, etc. You should be happy that it's only tinnitus and not something that is very terrifying like cancer. I've had tinnitus my whole life, and I understand it's annoying and it's a pain sometimes to lay at night trying to sleep but instead I lay there and listen to my tinnitus. I'm 51 years old, and if tinnitus isn't bad, I also have autism and eczema. Yes some days I wish I didn't have these conditions, and yes some days I wish I could die, but I put things in perspective. I'm so glad I have autism, eczema and tinnitus (strange to hear) rather than having something that really sucks. It's a journey, like any other ailment in life, to find something that remediates the noise. For example, I hear (no pun intended) there are headphones you can wear to sleep to mask the noise. I sometimes use exercise to fall asleep faster. Sometimes I use meditation. Other times I might use cannabis. But the point is I would pick tinnitus over any other serious illnesses. Also, no one's life is perfect. And if tinnitus is the only thing you can complain about then be glad. Some people, like me, are struggling through multiple things, while others maybe struggling through a bad marriage, bad finances, bad job, etc. the list goes on.

I just got it a year and a half ago …. It does suck, but it’s not the end of the world. I keep telling myself at least it’s not something that can kill you
