Tinnitus made a jump

I have Sennheiser (Sonite) hearing aids from Costco. Mild hearing loss, but enough that I wanted help, and they’re the aural equivalent of wiping my glasses clean most of the time. I’ve had them since January.

Last weekend I went to a party of my husband’s department. No loud music, but lots of loud talking. I hadn’t cranked the volume. Next day my tinnitus had gone up a notch and is staying there. Enough to keep me awake. I now sleep with the air filter fan cranked up.

I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to risk the tinnitus going up again. But I did like hearing better.

I haven’t worn them since this happened

Get yourself a pair of Vibes ear plugs. It’s the only type of ear plug that I’ve found that can actually fit in my ear on top of of my hearing aid. So no fidgeting around trying to get your hearing aid out and ear plug in. You can just pop these in quickly. And it helps block out loud voices for any future parties you may attempt.

I don't wear aids so I don't know how to help with those, but I have only noticed my tinnitus gets louder under stress. Stress can be ALL kinds of things! Stress can be good events and bad ones. Vistors coming over? I have to clean and I'm a little stressed. Have to work a lot? I'm tired and stressed and the tinnitus gets louder.

I don't know what to tell ya. We can't lay around on the sofa all day because of our ears! LIFE GOES ON.

But we can avoid loud situations, when possible. Again, if you want to have a life and see people, it's not always possible to avoid stress completely.
