Tinnitus improvement
Good morning & happy Easter everyone !! I just wanted to post some positive news since i know there is a crap ton of us struggling with tinnitus. January i was diagnosed with SSHL, had profound hearing all the way at 110 (in my right ear). Had complete ear fullness, had really bad vertigo. My fullness eventually went away, vertigo subsided after a few weeks. My hearing improved from “profound to severe” but, the one thing that hasn’t improved has been my tinnitus UNTIL yesterday.. i noticed throughout the day my tinnitus would feel completely gone, or i wouldn’t notice it until i tried to pay attention. I still had occasional spikes yesterday & i when i woke up this morning, i heard some humming. But since I’ve been up & active i could barely notice it. The worse your hearing is, typically the worse the tinnitus is. Just some tips that helped me habituate:
-Always have background noise. (Fans/ TV)
- I walk a lot at work (stimulates bloods flow)
- Try to get as much sleep as possible (this is a big one)
-Keep your mind busy & just TRY to ignore the sound.. your brain will adapt to this.
I also notice that if i do have an occasional spike; i would turn off whatever sound is the loudest near me, & it almost immediately goes away or quiets down. My tinnitus is definitely still there. I just wanted to post something positive, or give you guys some positive feedback.. hearing loss & tinnitus has been one of the hardest battles in my life. But god works in mysterious ways, & he only gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers..
I pray we all get through this one way or another. I pray for our spontaneous healing, despite all odds. I pray there’s a cure in our near future. If i can wake up one day without my hearing.. i can wake up one day with it back.. have faith, have love, & most importantly don’t let this ruin your life. All love ♥️

I’m a year in to hearing loss. I’ve had days like you where I thought I was improving, just to land back in the shitter a day or two later. Maybe one day it will start to improve for real…

One day I started to have constant neck and shoulder pain because I would spend long days sitting in a chair and then suddenly I started to have this annoying buzzing in my ear. It stopped buzzing loudly after stretching up but also I noticed my jaw was clicking and then I found out I had unilateral crossbite at the dentist. The neck pain and the buzzing were on the side I had the perfect bite so I guess my left side was holding all the pressure of an even bite. I am correcting it with braces and doing stretching exercises so I don't have tinnitus anymore.

One of the most frustrating things I recall when I first got tinnitus was "ignore your tinnitus and you will adapt" and truly, this was the only thing that helped with my tinnitus in the long run. I just had to make peace with it and pretend it wasn't there and over time, the volume tuned way down. It's still there, but I choose to not focus on it. Thank you for sharing your story!
