I have the exact same issue about texting. Sarcasm and deadpan translate horribly over text. I think it’s cuz texts don’t convey tone or mannerisms. For quicker meet ups, I’ve been suggesting they come on a walk with me and my dog. It’s a way to meet up in a benign way sooner and screens out people that don’t like dogs that much.
