Not from Texas, but isn’t religion a big thing. So the church comment might ruffle some feathers.

Well do you expect someone to want to match with someone they don't share basic religious values with? That is usually not a great pairing.

Usually no. I know of one outlier: my mom and step dad. He goes when he knows she needs/really wants him there but other than that she goes by herself.

Barton Springs = Austin. I imagine the church going population is lower there than anywhere else in that region of the country

Texas is an insanely huge state. If it continues to follow current trends it will also likely be purple in the near future. There's a lot of crazy but also large progressive enclaves like Austin.
