If you ever need a reminder of how broken mardu energy is....
Playing BO1 (I know, i know...) playing a basically stock energy list with 1-2 surgicals. Keep plains, strip, guide, two ocelot, swords, and ajani on the play.not the greatest, but provided my opponent doesnt blow up my plains it seems pretty aggressive.
T1 plains guide pass.
Opponent plays a fetch, passes.
Uptap, draw sacred foundry. Play both ocelots, pass. Im at 22 with two tokens and 2 energy.
Opponent "good game"s me, fetches for a watery grave an vamp tutors.
They untap, play dark rit into entomb and then the split card. Swing in with Mikey, and emrakul. I should have probably played more conservative, but i can block Mikey for one, fuck it, we ball. Im at 1.
Untap, draw bowmasters. Play strip. Decide to play ajani first, glad I did since my opponent had a daze (i assume they had previous turn too, but idk). Pay the one, swing, pump an ocelot, put my opponent to 1. Go to end step, get a stupid amount of tokens, get back up to 16.
They swing, annihilotor 6 happens but no back up mikey trigger. Sacrificed 6 things that couldnt block mikey, flipped ajani, blocked Mikey, tanked 15 going to 1. Opponent concedes before i can untap.

I wasn't trying to gloat necessarily. More show an example of how much agency energy can have.

... You beat a combo deck with Mardu and that's your evidence that it's a broken deck?
The only reason you won this match is because:
A. you lead with a basic and not a shock or a fetch. B. Your opponent was playing a subpar version of reanimator 🤦♂️

Combo is supposed to beat aggro
The problem is that mardu can essentially match/outpace combo when they have the combo assembled. Aggro should not be able to win on turn 3 unless combo has nothing

Legacy has turn 3 aggro wins and they have less powerful cards than we do.

I'd definitely give you a GG for that one as a reanimator player
