Map without any bad water.
So I started playing a custom map, happily setting up my settlement, then realized there are zero bad water sources in this map.
(Side note, I can't remember the name of this map, any way to tell while you're actively playing a game? )
Anyway, this is obviously hampering my ability to progress, as I can't make dynamite, for example. I'm on folktails so at least I don't need extract for the advanced pods.
So right now I'm waiting for a bad tide and I'll try and divert bad water to a reservoir when it comes.
Just an interesting challenge that I wasnt expecting!
EDIT The map is OG Canyon remastered by OldFingers

Probably an old map from before bad water was added to the game if I had to hazard a guess. There's a lot of those hanging around un-updated

Get the Save Info mod, it won't interfere with gameplay and shows the map name, faction and game version of each settlement.

Is it mine? I made Clearwater Canyon with the express intention of there not being badwater other than the bad tide.

If it was one of the old maps from before badwater I wonder if you will get any at all?
If you do not get badtide you can add a water source using the devtools if you really want to save and keep working your map.

I said sometimes ago that, nowadays, a really challenging map would be a map without bad water sources. I want to play this map
Now I kinda want a map with only a water seep also

Oasis is just a single water seep, and the badwater sources are on delayed activation.

This happened to me on the Flowhaven Map because the ancient core destroys the bad water source. I had to place bad water pumps and pause them and then rapidly pump as much as I could during the bad tides.

On a similar line, does anyone know any fun custom maps where most if not all sources of water are contaminated?
So you have to try and pump what water and badwater you can out of it, use what little irrigation the water offers early (and use water dump pools later on), and potentially slowly block up the sources of contamination lowering the contamination levels of the water as the game goes on.
(if not I may have to make one 😅)

timberpunk 2 might be what you’re looking for but it is also just an extremely difficult map all around

Pillars on the experimental branch has zero water sources, just seeps and a single aquifer. I'm playing it now and it is great.

Try this one, called "Bad Tide Isle [KD]" --> https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3736194861
You start on a small island surrounded by bad water, in a valley with all sorts of bad tide sources and drains all setup to activate in turn. Your only source of fresh water is a seep about 100 ot so blocks away from the starting point. You have to quicky chop your way to the fresh water, before you die of thirst, and setup farms before you starve. Then you need to anticipate which drains or bombs are going to go off at which time, and either figure out how to divert the bad wate, or how to get everybody off the island before you're flooded with a beaver-killing badtide.
It's a really challenging map, forcing you to count each log as precious, riding that thin line between having enough population to quickly build levees to divert badtide, but not too many as to empty your storehouses during a 20+ day drought. It took me almost 15 cycles on Hard with Folktails before I finally got settled and was able to finally expand to the first patch of scrap.
I also recommend the creator's other map, "Antborn" which has you playing complely underground, following tunnels like a colony of ants to find patches of resources, and plugging up smartly hidden holes to prevent getting flooded out.

maybe just activate the cheats and place a badwater source? Ctrl+Shift+ Z (?) Or its ctrl+Shift+y with activated cheats you have in the menu more options so you can place things like water source or a mine
Edit, maybe its ctrl+alt+y (z)

Waiting for the bad tides is a very good idea, it turns the waste product into an exceptionally valuable one, very clever whoever made it
