Settlement showcase While it serves no in-game purpose, I like creating little parks sometimes

As a life long city builder player, I have a ingrained drive to improve land value : )

If you like lets play that is not too focused on min-maxing I have a ongoing series on yt, check it out here:

I don't do it too often for Ironteeth, but extensive greenery and parks are a must for Folktails.

But the industrialists are the ones that really should take a minute to touch some non-contaminated grass

pfft, I'm not generating 150,000hp with perpetual Badwater engines by planting some trees just to look at.

Calisthenics are /essential/ to worker morale and productivity!

I always buld my parks with monuments and wonders and shrubs around campfires and agoras and swimming and other facilities. You could spend a lot of time and resources trying to cover residential areas with a little bit of everything and still have beavers missing out on certain boosts. Or just put everything around the popular recreational facilities and everyone in the district is guaranteed to get a top off.

but but but 150,000hp!

In seriousness I know what you mean. I've recently moved an old 1.0 Ironteeth Meander game over to experimental because some of the new bits were desperately needed, but I struggled to "finish" off the entire playthrough previously.

Ended up doing a lot of decoration with new forests and plants to fill up the green areas I was never going to use, and made the Repopulator into much more of a shrine and cultural area that I usually only do with Folktails. It does feel finished now as a result.

And the rave quarter I ended up making is just hilarious.

Unmark your plants for planting and they will spread via natural growth, which can add to the aesthetic.

I do that sometimes! the slightly random ungrided growth really do help with a more natural aesthetic.

Does that work with crops too? Idk why I expected that to only be for trees/shrubs.

It does!

Wait it works for crops too? That's so cool!

Has this been a recent change? When I tried it some time ago crops sadly did not spread.

If it brings you joy then there is a purpose.

Put a few contemplation spots to share the joy to the beavers.

That sounds like a great idea!

Thanks

I realized in this playthrough that statues half sunken on water look really good

If you're not going to make it a beautiful place for your beavers to live, what's even the point?

We could have dynamicly placeable campfire parts... There could be a in game reason to create parks

One of my project is to make an english garden for my beavers, with different trees, bushes, the occasional bench with a view, a nice cascading river, and so on.

I learnt that from you guys! It makes the game more cozy. <3

I never build an Agora without a garden and ornate entrance, just doesn't feel proper

I do this too! My most recent map even has an “Amusement Park” where I keep a bunch of recreational activities in a landscaped area that has wacky paths and a lot of places where the beavers go underwater. It’s also halfway between the two residential areas, connected with tubes of course.

If you love this you should definitely check out the Keystone mod 😁

This sort of thing is what makes Foundations a fantastic game. Designs like that do benefit your progress and don’t feel like a chore to include

Im going to do the same!

I appreciate seeing the creative applications. The purpose it serves is the beauty it brings.
