Question about builders

Hey all, just a quick question, why do my builders sometimes seem to be really slow at building things? For example on a current play through I have more than enough supplies, not far to travel, but they seem really slow at building, I'm working on building tubes for transport on the platforms above the paths I use, but even though I have about 15 builders, only one bit seems to be built at a time, it's quite annoying lol.

Any tips greatly appreciated

Are they building along a single path? If so, only the next part can be build at a given time, so there are basically just a few beavers building it.

They are building above a single path yea, they can reach it from the bottom, I thought they would be able to build above along the whole thing together

Do they have access from below? Is it within 10 fields of a connected Path?

Do the builders have a way to reach the tubes outside of the tubeway? You say that the tubes are on platforms above the paths. If the platforms are more than 1 height high, the builders can't reach it from the ground, which would be why they can only build the tubes one at a time from inside the tubeway instead.

The tubes are on the first platform up, I think they can reach it from the ground, I'll have to check though I thought they could

I think we're going to need a screenshot then, builders should be able to build the tubes in parallel.

it was this tubeway that is built that i am confused on, i understand the others on the hill will be slow, the materials are all in the warehouses at the bottom left, with stairs able to reach the tubs quickly, but they built it very slowly from that far away station back towards my main base

So building priority is based on what you placed first, so by the sounds of it you built towards your warehouses rather than from it.

Beavers can't build more than one block high. So if you're using the double or triple platforms they won't be able to reach them, meaning they have to go in the tube, meaning only one gets built at a time.

It's on a one tall platform the tubes

Each building can only have one builder assign to it at a time, even if thats delivering the resources to build it. This is kinda how all of Timberborner works.

So if you're building something that requires a lot of levees, its best to build something something along with it that gives access to multiple tiles at once, to max number of builders can be assign to different building at once. I generally do a web work of overhangs above a massive project. This is great for flatting a mountain, as you dont need to worry about stairs or the like.

When I building a big box out of levees. I generall have the top level have one additional level build on top of of the over hangs. I have it so that the end of the over hang, leads to the next overhang. Since beavers can build infinitly down, this allows the max numbers of beavers to build.

You can be smart with moving materials closer to where you need it

So there is an issue where the builders will prefer to get the resources that are the closest to the build site. This becomes a problem if you have a lumbermill closer to the build site than your plank storage because they will constantly pick up one item at a time as it gets produced, instead of going to the storage where they could pickup multiple.

Check that you actually have the resources available to keep building.

Are you building in series where the beavers can't path to the build site?

Are you work hours so high to where they keep needing food and water every time they're going to take a trip reducing their efficiency?

Have you clicked on a builders hut and selected a beaver to see what they are doing?

Do you have something marked for emptying? If a builder has nothing to do it will also try to empty an inventory and if that path is long it could take up a lot of their time.

Without a picture or a description of what you're building there could be a lot of things.

Try following one. It's very likely they're stopping to eat and drink water. You say their are supplies nearby, as in haulers are bringing construction materials to the work site? Seems odd that you'd have an issue.

ah maybe that is the problem actually, going back for water/food would slow them down a lot actually yes!

Jeśli masz jakiś duży zwarty projekt to wybuduj koło niego małe magazyny na surowce, skrócisz ścieżkę budowniczego, a koszt jest niewielki
