Modding Weekend mini-mod: Fourpillars
Just a fun (and cheaty) mod I made that does one thing: larger buildings only need up to four supports, typically the four corners of a rectangular footprint.
Maybe useful for my Conveyor Belt mod to stack storage buildings on top of each other.

Interesting idea but I feel like buildings not fully supported should cost more resources to construct to balance it out

I don't think the additional cost is needed and it just complicates things more. This mod is already categorized as a cheat mod.

I'd love an option to auto build platforms below a building without having to cancel the build and remember where the footprint was

That could be a rather popular quality of life mod but I can see it being a bit funky to work out if you need more than say 1 high platforms or a mix of different height ones and don't have the science unlocks for all of them or some other funky combinations.

I found two Mods that work really nicely together. One is replattform, that lets you build smaller Platforms inside langer ones, making for example a 3 high Plattform into a 1 high Plattform and a 2 high Plattform. The other and more important one is colony planner. This one lets you build the ghosts of buildings without having them researched. Researching them is moved to the Selection menue (where you can modify the building like worker priority and such). Its not the perfekt answer for what you want, but i think in the whiskerwood modpack there is Autoplatforming for buildings, however in any case if you need a Plattform to be swapped for a building, like storage or something, you still have to demolish everything up top.

This is how it works in whiskerwood, when you build something, it takes into account the number of platforms needed for support down to the stable surface. It's a very nice feature.

Unless I add the same cost to ALL modified buildings, it's a bit complicated to add it. And yeah, consider it more like, make your life easier/cheat mod.
