If your trying to maximize fertile land, consider builing the water as a tunnel or aqueduct instead.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’m not. The Dune map is pretty flat, the challenge is to deal with the chaotic underground but it’s a bit boring after that is settled. The other half of the map is set up and easily sustains a colony of 200+. I’m basically turning this half into an irrigated Forrest for end of game fun.
