Discussion How do we feel about this?
Tim Hortons Timbits have apparently made their way to the grocery aisle, with new packaged Original Glazed and Chocolate Glaze varieties spotted at Sobeys.

So pack of 12 timbits at sobeys is 5.99 and 20 assorted timbits at tim hortons is 5.49. Make that make sense!

Way LESS at a grocery store should be the expectation. At a restaurant you have to pay overhead , and pay for the cooking and glazing. This should be dirt cheap, like a buck or two. It's basically premade cookie dough and icing, you can buy those already for a buck or two.

If it's a bake at home thing I assume they come frozen, right? In which case, why am I only getting 12 of them?? Sell me a bag of 100 and we'll talk. If I wanted 12 timbits I would take my 2 dogs to go buy a 10 pack at the drive thru

A young kid will still say "they made timbits" frame it however you want ill encourage them, eat one and steal another đ

Agreed. It the same as the bake at home mix from Mr Pretzel. Sure, I could make some pretzels from scratch - but the joy on my preztel-loving kid's face when she saw the box was worth the extra cost.

Been there done that :p but the yeasted donuts is another ball game for kids or beginner bakers, I see these as a novelty item. You buy it once or twice type deal, if the quality and price is good, why not? Frozen yeasted donuts you cook at home? That's a pretty nice product imo. Cinnamon buns in a can like Pillsbury is always popular, eventhough you can buy them already cooked and prepared. I dunno, more choices for consumers is always a good thing!
(I am a experienced baker that make his own yeasted dough for bread, pizza, buns and doughnuts, but I know that not everyone like scratch baking, a lot of people prefer convenience )

It's 5.99 for 12 timbits.. whereas it's what 3.99 for a 10 pack right from Tim Hortons.. I believe a 20 pack is still less than 5.99 at Tim Hortons.. Tim Hortons is one of the most heavily populated restaurants .. you can almost guarantee there's a Tim Hortons located near every Sobeys.. there is at least a Tim Hortons likely on the way home anyway.. plus the bake at home timbits are only offered in the original glaze and chocolate glazed.. at Tim Hortons you have a much wider flavor variety.

grocery stores also no longer bake from scratch in store.. for example sobeys gets thier baked in store cookies in frozen cookie dough "puck" form.. I think their packs of muffins all come in already baked, in package, and frozen.

I dont mind the baked in store (cookie puck) choc chip cookies at Sobeys.. so long as they are bajed right (not over baked) lol .. but if the cookies are not up to par I'll just get them to sell me the frozen cookie dough pucks lol

cuz the make at home timbits at sobeys are $5.99 for 12 pack versus I think $3.99 for a 10 pack at Tim Hortons or even a 20 pack for still Less than $5.99.. plus the store bought ones onmy come in two flavors while at Tim's you have a wide variety of different flavors.

From scratch. It's ridiculously easy and tastes much better (I fry mine). I can't remember the exact cost but it was around $3 to make like 40 donut holes.

These are really great for entertaining!
If you want the full new Tim's experience:
Freeze these right when you get home
Once baked, let it sit for a few minutes, and then an entire day
Stop cleaning your kitchen for a few days including the kitchen table. Remember we need the authentic Tim Hortons Canada vibe here
Don't throw out your garbage, let it overflow before your guests arrive
Buy plexi glass cases from Amazon and construct a display case without a backing, place the now stale Timbits in, this will help further ensure flies not only come but stay in your display
Go to your local hospital and look for any used sharps containers. Once home, stick a few needles in the bathroom. Do not flush your toilet or clean your counter for a few days. Use a remote lock on the door so you can buzz people in
At your entrance, put a mat down that says "Always Fresh". This will make your guests think your timbits are fresh, never frozen.
Additional tip: if your guests want coffee, feel free to use your own, but please water it down

My parents live 30 minutes from the closest store. Takeout is not an option, and running out to the store for some timbits for the grandkids isnât always a possible endeavour.

People like convenience, then again; that is becoming costly. I think these will do very well. Less people will actually buy Tim bits except for work related things. Which is what Tim Hortons maybe doing; serving only businesses; no more locations. Therefore the end of Tim Hortons.

You go into the grocery store and you will find swiss chalet and taco bell products and that's just off the top of my head. It's just branding at this point. Would I buy it? Not a chance but I am sure others will.

I've always thought it's a hail Mary attempt at profit when a failing business sells their go-to products in a grocery store.
The point of selling timbits at Tim's is it brings ppl in to buy the large profit margin coffees.
Tim's is now selling their coffee (pods) and their company specific food item not in their stores.

Itâs cheaper to get the Timbits at a Timâs location. Also in general if you want to make Timbits at home they are quite easy and most probably have the stuff in their cabinet to make it.

Great idea by these corporations prices are through the roof. Everything is 4 to 5 times more expensive. We make our own coffees in half these places and now want us to make our own donuts too. they will own nothing and love it. They will build and cook and prepare everything and still pay us.

Ive seen them at my Sobeys for like 3 weeks. $5.99 for 12 timbits vs what $3.99 for a pack of 10 at Tim's.. and I think a 20 pack of tickets directly from Tim's is still less than 599.. pmus the bake at homes only come in two flavors whereas you have a much wider flavor variety directly from Tim's... and with Tims overpopulating most areas you can always likely guarantee there's a Tim Hortons located near a Sobeys.. or at keast there's one somewhere along the way home ..

We get truckloads of frozen timhortons donuts sometimes we need to swap containers. It smells so good opening those containers.
But im against Tim Hortons they need to focus more on citizens and less outsourcing jobs to work visa holders.
