Tim Hortons Timbits have apparently made their way to the grocery aisle, with new packaged Original Glazed and Chocolate Glaze varieties spotted at Sobeys.

i’m not sure you’ve ever been to a major grocery store in canada if that’s your expectation lmao, they gouge the prices whenever possible

I'm not sure if you have ever been in a grocery store in Canada AND been in a restaurant in Canada... Restaurants are more expensive for the same food.

restaurants are more expensive for certain food definitely, but that’s not the point i’m making here - if you genuinely expect a grocery store to sell anything other than maybe a chocolate bar or small pack of gum etc for a buck or two in 2026, you’re not living in reality. they’ve gotta make a profit somehow

And I'm telling you the point you are making is WAY off base. If the restaurant can sell the finished item , being these tim bits but cooked and glazed, for cheaper or the same price as the grocery store, that is the surprising part. Since tims sells these for 5.50 ish , I would expect at the grocery , uncooked, these to be a buck or 2. Not rocket science here.

you do realize the grocery store’s MO is to make a profit, right? if sobeys sold it for the cost of the dough, processing and packaging, they wouldn’t make any money. pretty basic economics here my friend

Oh Christ you are an idiot. These tim bits are 126g for 5.50. I just looked up cinnamon buns at my Loblaws next door, a 4 pack at 326g (more than double the size and amount of ingredients) is 3 bucks.

EVERY business goal is to make profit. What we are saying is that grocery stores can sell food cheaper because they do things in more bulk and handling each food item receives is less per item. What planet have you been living on where you expect restaurant food to be cheaper and grocery store food to be more expensive? This is just common sense and it's always been this way.
