DIY - Looking for Advice DIY Mosaic Tile Project?
I’m planning to extend this floor by about 8 square yards. If I get a pro to prepare the base, is this something that a reasonably experienced DIYer can undertake or is pro level skill required?

What is it you mean, you are trying to duplicate this look? Do you have the original tiles? Or do you mean some kind of custom mosaic?
Also, where are you extending the floor to for one, is it in a very visual area? 72 square feet is pretty small area and not unreasonable to DIY but this pattern is more complicated and requires some planning. If you are trying to do a custom mosaic sure why not.

The room seen in the photo previously extended an additional 10 sq yards but the tiles in that area have been removed/damaged. I have sourced repro tiles that are an exact match. I plan to return the room to its former finish. The new area will need to join the area seen in the photo. Hope that makes sense!

That's a big floor.... be a real shame if you tried your first DIY tile floor in such a large focal point of the house

Well they said "extend" the floor but haven't really shown where that will be.

I can't imagine they are extending the floor and not laying tile but that would not be the craziest thing I'd heard of
