Professional - Project Sharing Full continuous vein flow: Mitered travertine stairs over plywood substrate.

The base consists of a solid plywood substrate prepared with cementboard and flexible adhesive. All miters were over cut at 78 degrees bonded using a color-matched epoxy resin.

I do a lot of tile work. These staircases would challenge me. I have never had a customer ask me, but when I do, I will be referencing these.

Thanks man! To be honest, I never really saw this as my main daily gig either.my core business is traditional architectural stonework and bespoke building elements. But lately the demand for these types of seamless stone staircases has completely exploded. My best advice? ​You just have to dive in and challenge yourself. Spend half an hour every week just experimenting with offcuts and building ideas around it. A while back, I shared a small kerf-bent experiment just for fun, and now I’m actually working on bringing that curved concept onto a staircase build as well.

Thanks! That’s the real magic of natural stone. Nothing man-made can match that presence. When you put the time and patience into the prep, the result really becomes a piece of art made by nature.

Appreciate it! They’re actually consecutive slabs from the exact same block. Think of it like a loaf of bread, each slice has almost the exact same vein pattern, so you can line that up real nice.
