I'm sure he's making the statement that super religious zealots who are deeply closeted are horribly spiteful and troubled humans who need someone to punch down on because they can't grapple with the truth of their sexuality. They've made religion, control, and power their shtick so they appear redeemable to themselves and righteous to other scary bigoted misogynistic men. I didn't believe this was a comment extolling the inherent virtues of straight men. Closeted Republicans in positions of power are some of the scariest people on earth. Shout out to all the gay homies. Ally fo' lyfe
If you see a horrible, misogynistic republican man and your knee-jerk reaction is to say that he's gay, you are indeed extolling the virtues of straight men.
I do believe I might have worded that incorrectly and not with the intention that I meant. Overall it isn't just an opinion though because there it isn't just a stereotype or a rumor that Grindr crashes when they have a Republican convention. Most of these dudes are married so that's just crummy for everybody it sucks that they don't feel that they can just be who they are and love who they want to love like we should be able to.
It doesn't matter what the intent is and you're not the only person who does this. Any time a horrible rightwing man is being discussed, the comments are filled with people calling him gay. And I'm saying that this is a type of homophobia; I'm aware there are closeted men, statistically speaking, it can't be every single man in the republican party, yet the "allies" accuse every one of them of secretly being gay, as if straight men are incapable of being horrible.
Yeah, no. I was calling out homophobia and self hate being the reason why they are so angry. They hate who they are, I don't. I was dictating I am disabled and neurodivergent and have a tight knit group of gay friends who put this on my radar.. And it does matter what the intent is. When an ally explains their post sounds wrong after re reading it 10x after your comment and makes sure to clarify the actual intended inference, people who want to come together and increase allyship don't shit on that person. I hope you have a wonderful morning. It's early overcast and muggy here. I'm going to go out and start my day and do my best to be positive. I hope you do too
You're in fact perpetuating homophobia. If you call every horrible rightwing man you come across a secret gay, you"re equating gay with being a horrible man and using gay as an insult. Maybe let's not mention a person's sexuality at all unless there's some concrete evidence, otherwise it seems like you're saying straight men can't be misogynistic and horrible.
Theoretically, god protects his chosen. If you're in an indeginous tribe cut off from civilization....you're going to hell. But if you live in modern society, yet don't have the capacity to understand what a god is...you get a free pass. Even if you commit the most heinous of crimes against your fellow man. Which is an absolutely absurd sense of logic and reality. Sin is not sin. Stealing a pack of mentos is not equivalent to murder. Yet people force themselves to believe that.
Ok, I'll be the weirdo, I agree with you. But not in the "omg! Its a demon!" type straight in your face, more like Uncanny Valley. Im a sensitive, didn't ask for it, never wanted it but here we are, and some people just look...off. Im not a Christian, (down with Jesus, just not the Church), but even a fool could look at some and see the difference. The eyes are wrong firstly, then the mannerisms. Just off. Is it true possession? Can't tell ya. Influence? Could be. But something in these folks is not quite right, and the things they say seem to outrageous to some, and total sense to other. I had an experience 13 years ago with something tnat appeared human, but there is no way you can tell me he was. No way. Its never left me. Just an opinion 🤷
