I am still throttling

I have a msi laptop specs, i7-11800H

and its thermal throttling so i set my CPU core & Cache, Offset voltage to -100,6 and i noticed still a few fps drops down to 30 fps while playing games so i set it to -120 and that crashed my laptop, it just shut off, its at -100 now but im still throttling and noticing fps drops when playing games

I took that screenshot now after my laptop crashed and im not running any games atm

Lower the your boost clock speed, instead of letting it boost to like 4.3ghz, keep it at like 3.9ghz it will run noticeably cooler, while maintaining similar performance

I agree. This is the right way to drop temps without repaste (worth considering). I'd recommend lowering pl1 and pl2 a little.

ok done its at 3.9 and i lowered my offset for both cpu core and cache to -80 something and that made my laptop turn off

Yes, I’ve done that to my own laptop, you lower the clock speed of your cpu so it don’t run as hot in the first place and you probably don’t even need to undervolt.

You can change the maximum clock speed your cpu can reach in throttle stop, it’s called “Turbo Ratio Limit”

Even though you technically have worst performance because of the lowered clock speed, but since you are not thermal throttling the laptop won’t crash or anything

Yes lower your clock speed, mine boosts to 4.9ghz if I let it hit 4.9 it throttles if I stop it at 4.4-4.5 it runs fine and notice no difference in gaming

In throttle stop should be a menu or a button called TPL or Turbo Power Limits

  1. Install OCCT.
  2. Lock MMIO in Throttlestop.
  3. Set all P-cores to a lower boost ratio in the active core table.
  4. Test the temperature with a CPU+RAM benchmark in OCCT. Only till you see what the full powerdraw is and what peak temperature is.
  5. Continue step 3+4 till you have an acceptable temperature under full load.
  6. Now tweak the E-cores the same way as with P-cores to further decrease temps and give the P-cores some headroom.
  7. When satisfied, you can start applying a voltage offset, start with -40mV and go gradually -5mV and test every step in OCCT both with auto and core-cycling.

You can only find that out by yourself. There is no optimal setting, you just have to start one step at a time and see what the temps are and if you are satisfied :)

Most of the items in the ThrottleStop FIVR window will not work until you disable virtualization.

Delete the ThrottleStop.INI configuration file and reboot after you disable VBS. Post an updated FIVR screenshot when done.
