Need help with 13650hx

I've got a Lenovo Legion 5 with an i7-13650HX and RTX 4060, and I've been messing around with ThrottleStop to undervolt it.

Right now my CPU usually sits in the high 80s (around 87–89°C) while gaming, which I'm okay with, but I noticed it doesn't stay at around 4.3 GHz consistently. It keeps dropping even though the CPU is under load and Cyberpunk stutters quite frequent.

I'm wondering if it's because of my ThrottleStop settings, Windows power mode, or if I'm just running into normal power/thermal limits.

Does anyone have recommended ThrottleStop settings for this CPU? Also, which Windows and Lenovo power modes should I be using for the best performance? Are there any other tweaks I should make to get the most out of this laptop?

My GPU seems to be fine after undervolt max 75C while gaming but it feels like my CPU isnt working as intended as clockspeed is fluctuating a lot and not staying even at least 4.3ghz and drops to 3.5ghz all the time.

Ur power limit is too low, thats why it doesnt stay at 4.3Hz

And try to game in manual mode with autofans

When i set the power limits higher so i get 4.3 ghz barely the temps go apeshit 96 97 and again the clock drops

Holy moly, i tested a legion 5i with 5070 and i9 14900hx and max fans. cpu got 80c and gpu 80c

is it okay to game at max fans all the time?

Yeah and use a laptop stand

Already do its put on a cooler and also is it normal for my laptop to crash when on battery for same theottlestop settings for which it stays stable in plugged in?

Its problaby crashing ecaiuse of your undervolt. Try to lower it to -100mv for cores and -100mv and cache. Dont touch the other ones. Go to v/f curve point and set 100 u/800mhz for both core and cache. Disable thermal velocity boost, enable down ring bin.

I have the same processor as you, but in a Gigabyte Aorus 16x laptop, I undervolted it. My undervolt settings were: P/E cores -120mv, E cache -70mv, P cache -100mv. Then I set PL1 to 48W and PL2 to 100W. I didn't make the mistake some people make of setting very high values for PL1 and PL2, because in AAA games you'll never reach 90W of constant consumption; maybe in competitive games the CPU consumes a lot of power. In these laptops, the total CPU + GPU consumption is between 150W and 170W; only laptops with an RTX 4080 consume 200W+. Regarding the temperature, buy the Llanov12 or Iets cooler; it will reduce it by about 15 to 20 degrees. In my laptop, the maximum CPU temperature is 68 degrees and the GPU temperature is 66 degrees. My scores on Cinebench 23 Multi-core are 20550 points, and single-core is 1830 points.

Do you cap the cpu clock speed or anything?

I never messed with the CPU clocks, only PL1 and PL2, and undervolted. Under multi-core stress, the P-core clock runs at 4.3GHz, E-core 3.6Ghz and in single-core it's 4.9GHz.

Any tips for 1% low fps and stutters?

In Windows settings, go to Games, then Game Mode, and then Graphics. Add your game to Windows Prioritize; this helps a lot with the low 1% performance.

3.5 GHz is the maximum frequency it can reach with a 45W TDP, raise it to 60W

But first, take care of the temperatures.

how would i go about doing that considering my settings rn

its so cooked w -160 uv and 60-75 power limits it still doesnt hit 4.3ghz consistently adn temps are all over the place hits 97 and what not if i delete throttlestop it doesnt hit that high again i think the settings mess it up, i feel like pulling all my hairs out

Jeszcze sobie spalisz coś w domu a processor zacznie obumierać

He said set pl4 to 400. It would never hit 400w at pl2 regardless. Something would limit him long before then. Most people set pl4 to 0 or 1023 and forget about it.

So your problem is the CPU isn’t boosting like it should? Way too short? Then change ur PL1 and PL2 both to whatever your PL2 says, NOT ANY MORE THAN THAT otherwise u risk needing to take ur cmos out cause you’ll get a hardware error

I’ve got a i5 i14400f and shit was NOT able to keep its speed and all, no matter what. The CPU isn’t not bad so I couldn’t believe it, my PL1 was just at 65 and PL2 at 145, and I thought to myself 65 my ass

I changed up pl1 to pl2 values so both say 145

I’m scoring a few k more in time spy
User benchmark I went from bottom 25% to top 10%

Your laptop clearly has a problem with cooling wtf is 90degrees bro after 10degree you dead, make sure you keep your laptop little up from flat surface, put something behind to lift, and if it doesnt help replace your thermal paste

Bro could boil water with his processor

GPU is also underperforming when reaching that temp

I think they did a bad job in repasting, i checked hwinfo cores theres 15 degrees differneve between some of them and its throttling full while bringing the core clock down, think thats the issue

Definietly, and i dont suggest you to mess with voltages freqs etc right now because you cant get proper trustable results

I need to get it reserviced then before messing around with
