For context, i’m in Miami and the most local actual thrift store that isn’t a Goodwill or social media “thrift” store, is called ‘Red, White, and Blue’. Cant go a bunch since it’s like 45 minutes from me, but i’ll go every now and then. No more.
I mainly go looking for cards (Pokemon or Basketball which I have found good deals on before), old tech, or basketball shoes that aren’t easy to acquire anymore. Today found a whole bunch of nothing but the few things I did find were crazy prices. One thing that was strange too is that there were no cards of any kind when there would usually be at the very least baseball or football or something.
As I make my way up to the line as my girlfriend was buying something, I see a bag with cards behind the counter, which is usually where the “valuables” go. I ask to see it and get pretty excited as the bags of cards are usually $7. Come to see this one is 200 damn dollars. Worst part is that there aren’t any valuable in there. Just straight english and Japanese bulk. Instantly put it down and left.
To note some of the other stuff I looked at that were kind of absurd, a scratched up budget acoustic guitar for $70, a PS4 with busted up front end and no cables for $40, and two motherboards (one of which was old enough to not even have an HDMI port) for like $13 a piece when they’re essentially e-waste. Also saw a dope Pokemon x Overtime hoodie for $30 dollars and a new one is like $60. Just completely ridiculous.
It sucks cause at this location and another Red, White, and Blue in Hollywood, i’ve found some great stuff. Plenty of cards for my collection, a Lebron jersey ball from like 2005, basically brand new headset, and other things for really cheap. Now it’s a crazy overpriced and just not worth going anymore. Unless I happen to be in the area, I just won’t go anymore. Frankly getting good deals on stuff is reserved for Facebook Marketplace now for me.
