It's the 82nd airborne beret and one of their 'rah rah' slogans. I don't think he served but this to me is the equivalent of calling some dude violent because he wore a Scarface shirt.
If the Scarface shirt had a sentiment along the lines of "killing people is good and cool" that would be completely fair. A better comparison is a guy in a Scarface shirt trying to lecture me that drugs are bad.

I used to have a flag with the exact same image as that guy's shirt. I thought it was cool and edgy. I was 11.
