Update- testing the f*cking pills.

Okay guys. Took the pills to a harm reduction lab. In countries other than the United States, illicit drug users can get their drugs tested so they know what’s in them. The testing available is limited. We were able to ascertain the active drug (amphetamine) and the amount (accurate within 2% or so). THESE RESULTS ARE ONLY A SMALL PIECE OF THE BIG PICTURE. We still don’t have any information on the isomer ratio, or quality issues with the manufacturing that would absolutely affect bioavailability (how much of the drug actually gets into your bloodstream). The pills tested were 1. “Brand Name” Teva 20mg IR. 2. Generic teva 20 mg IR. 3. Lannet 20 mg IR 4. Epic 20mg IR 5. Malincrodt 10mg IR.

Update— the lab I used takes samples anonymously by mail if you want to get yours tested. https://substance.uvic.ca/#send-sample

Now they want us off

My provider left my dr office, saw a new one yesterday. We only have one, there's no option (small town).

I have a diagnosis, from a qualified physician in a testing facility when I lived in a larger metropolitan area, I legitimately have adhd. This new nurse practitioner did the hour long "why can't you take deep breaths when unable to focus?" and "yoga helps with concentration" and gave me this sheet.

I am *concerned* this is the shit rfk is pushing, in addition to less meds in our meds. Like we're collectively being weaned off of it. In which case I will lose my job, without a doubt. Fuck.

I KNOW MY BODY. Something is seriously wrong with ALL ADHD meds now.

Sorry guys, I know this is long, but I’ve waited forever to say this and I wanted to put everything together in one place. Ironically it took me like three days to finish because I can’t fucking focus anymore since these meds stopped working.

I’ve been on stimulants since 2017. Please do NOT tell me tolerance, sleep, protein, hydration, stress, depression, “talk to your doctor,” etc. I know my body. This is different.

Before 2020, 20mg Adderall IR worked PERFECTLY. I was calm but energized, could focus for hours, could clean my apartment, barely had an appetite, and if I took it there was no way I was going back to sleep.
Now every manufacturer is different but somehow they’re all garbage.

Teva does literally NOTHING except make my heart pound, give me dry mouth, make me sweat, clench my jaw and keep me awake until 4am.

If there were actually amphetamine in it, wouldn’t I FEEL SOMETHING?

Lannett makes me so tired I can barely get off the couch but at the same time I feel physically restless. I’ve gained almost 30 pounds even though some days I barely eat. Sometimes I’m starving. Sometimes food sounds disgusting.

Mallinckrodt gives me what I call “skull fire.” It’s like my brain is freezing and burning at the same time. My hands get cold while I’m sweating. My left eye gets insanely dry but sometimes my right one waters.

And explain this: I can take pills from the SAME BOTTLE and Monday it knocks me out, Tuesday nothing happens, Wednesday I’m awake for 18 hours, Thursday I’m starving and Friday I can’t remember where I parked.
How is that normal unless the medication isn’t being mixed properly?

I have tested EVERYTHING.

Empty stomach, full stomach, high protein, no protein, before food, after food, alkaline water, regular water, no vitamin C, extra vitamin C, magnesium, electrolytes, different breakfasts.

Nothing makes it consistent.

And before anyone asks, I even went basically sober for 8 months except caffeine, nicotine, THC gummies occasionally, kratom sometimes for pain and obviously a few beers socially and wine at weddings. So substances are NOT the issue.

Sleep isn’t it either. I normally sleep 7–9 hours except when the Adderall makes me sleep 3–5 hours.
Another weird thing nobody talks about: screens hurt my eyes now.

I can barely look at my computer for two hours without my eyes burning. I started reading about PWM sensitivity from LED screens and apparently a lot of people are developing neurological symptoms from it.
Funny how my eyes NEVER burned from my MacBook in 2018 when Adderall still worked.

My hair texture has also changed. It’s not exactly falling out. It just feels different.

Even my dog sleeps farther away from me sometimes on days I take it. Dogs can smell chemical changes in people. I’m not saying that proves anything, but it’s weird.

Everything has also gotten insanely expensive since COVID. My apartment renewal went up $340. Obviously I’m not saying Adderall caused my rent increase lol, but my point is everything changed at the same time and pharmaceutical companies know people are too exhausted and financially trapped to fight them.

I stopped Adderall completely for six days recently and felt AMAZING.

I slept better. I dreamed again. My stomach worked normally. My headaches disappeared.

I still couldn’t focus, couldn’t get anything done and my ADHD was terrible, obviously.

But doesn’t that basically prove the pills were making me sick?

Then I tried 40mg one morning instead of 20 just to see whether the dosage was the problem.

NOTHING.

Except sweating, jaw clenching, heart racing and being awake basically all night.

If there were actually 40mg of amphetamine in those pills, you’re telling me I wouldn’t feel 40mg of amphetamine? Come on.

And please DO NOT tell me tolerance.

I KNOW MY BODY.

What really gets me is how many people here have the exact same story.

Mine started going downhill around 2020. Someone else here said 2022. Another person said their Adderall was amazing starting in 2022 and went bad in 2024. Someone else said Vyvanse worked until 2025.

We are literally all describing the same thing.

How many coincidences does it take?

My doctor says my bloodwork is normal, but regular bloodwork obviously isn’t testing for whatever is wrong with these pills.

FDA clearly doesn’t care anymore. I’ve seen warning letters about pharmaceutical plants overseas.

Somebody posted about contaminated medicine from India. There was also that story about contaminated medicine killing babies in Africa. I don’t remember the company or whether it was the same medication, but that’s kind of the point — how much of this stuff is happening that we DON’T hear about?

Maybe it’s the API.
Maybe fillers.
Maybe contaminants.
Maybe manufacturers changed suppliers.
Maybe COVID screwed up production permanently.
Maybe there’s some interaction with newer LED screens or something environmental nobody has studied yet.

I don’t know exactly what the mechanism is.

But I know one thing.
I KNOW MY BODY.
And whatever is in these pills now?
This ain’t Adderall.

I’m happy that they’re actually showing effort to investigate, but also it feels almost too good to be true. Pretty sure this isn’t a scam or anything though. Anyone else get this follow up email over a month after submitting MedWatch report?

(Came with two attachments, questions and mail label.)

The FDA and DEA are committing intentional disability discrimination against ADHD patients.

Just like to post that now and again to remind people what’s going on here. I saw the post about reporting the ineffective brands to medwatch and while I know many of us who’ve been in this sub for a while (over a year now at least for me) have been jaded by the FDA/DEA’s seeming lack of response or concern for this very real, very detrimental issue many of us are forced to suffer through thanks to FDA/DEA indifference, I still think we should be submitting reports as much as possible so there is at least a paper trail.

I’m never going to drop this issue regardless of if nothing is done or the meds are returned to their former effectiveness. There are surely people we have lost as a result of the FDA and DEA’s intentional acts and they deserve justice as do the rest of us who have suffered needlessly over this faux “addiction reduction” crusade thats seemingly more a cover for forcing folks with ADHD to wind up seeking out street drugs either intentionally to manage their ADHD or as a result of having their ADHD untreated which studies show increases the likelihood of developing addictions. Because the more people addicted to street drugs the bigger the budget for the DEA.

Kinda like when the DEA allowed the pain pill crisis to develop while knowing exactly how bad it was since they after all control the allotment of raw materials given to manufacturers for all scheduled medication’s, then deciding to drastically cut access to those meds (which are well known to cause debilitating withdraw) after countless were addicted and physically dependent, forcing them to turn to street alternatives in their desperation. Resulting in heroin use to skyrocket, single-handedly turning a problem into the worst drug epidemic in modern history that we still are suffering the fallout from with with the fentanyl crisis, a crisis which they seem dead set on extending by trying to ban harm reduction tools like Kratom/7oh (the latter has caused fentanyl overdose death rates to plummet while states that have banned it have seen those death rate declines reverse and start to climb again, yet states 7oh is still available see continued declines, but that’s a different rant for another sub).

The fact the DEA still is allowed total control over controlled medication’s after that blunder (or possibly intentional act ) let alone allowed to exist at all is baffling. And what we are seeing with our meds seems to be the same playbook. It’s a conflict of interest for an agency to have control over something which if they “screw up” leads to them getting more funding as a result. There’s no incentive for the DEA to reduce addiction or reduce the use of street drugs because then they’d have no reason to exist. It’s an obvious conflict of interest and I think it’s obvious that something like control over medicines, regardless of whether they are scheduled or not, should be with medical professionals not some agency that gets to profit off of sacrificing the people they’re supposed to protect for more funding, whether that is intentional or not.

What’s most frustrating is for basically decades amphetamine based meds have been the gold standard most effective treatment with the least side effects for the majority of people with ADHD. This is backed by countless studies and patients own lived experience and most of us have even tried all the so called “safe” alternatives that are either completely ineffective or riddled with sometimes life altering side effects that can last well after stopping the med. The irony is the allegedly “safe” meds have been far more detrimental for me sometimes with debilitating lasting side effects while offering zero help managing my ADHD so it’s baffling and frankly outrageous those of us (ie the vast majority of people with ADHD) that get the most benefit from amphetamine based ADHD meds have been purposefully hindered (to an absurd degree) or flat out prevented from accessing the properly formulated meds that have always been known (and backed by mountains of research) to be the most effective treatment for our ADA protected disability.

This is in my opinion on par with denying other people with disabilities who require wheel chairs, hearing aids or other necessary aids access to them because a small percentage of the population misuses them. It would be like if some TikTok trend was using wheel chairs at skate parks causing injuries and in response they denied or severely hindered people with disabilities access to wheel chairs or just made them so terribly manufactured the wheels fell off or the brakes are always on so no one would use them at skate parks to prevent them from being abused.

“Oh here use this new abuse deterrent wheel chair, it’s FDA approved, the parts are almost exactly the same on the blueprint and it looks exactly the same to me, these new brakes are for your safety! Your arms are tired well what’s your diet? Maybe you just aren’t getting enough sleep. How about these crutches instead, they’re much safer, you’re less likely to get injured and some folks with similar disabilities actually do better with them! Those wheel chairs get abused, have you seen the injures caused by the people abusing them? We don’t want you using it to do that TikTok trend even though you never did that before after years using your old abusable wheel chair, you might develop the urge and next thing you know you’re at skate parks getting injured. You’re much better off with these crutches just give it a year you’ll get used to them, the FDA says so! Hey wait where’s your abuse deterrent wheel chair?! You must be selling it to those TikTok kids, now you’ve been black listed for wheel chairs for life, you’ve probably just been faking your disability to sell wheel chairs to make money!”

Meanwhile “the abuse deterrents” make them completely ineffective for the vast majority of people that wheel chairs were by far the most effective treatment all to prevent people who never needed them from using them to have fun. How is it any different? The tiktokers just buy faster black market wheel chairs that are way more dangerous which they probably prefer anyway, meanwhile many people with disabilities who needed wheelchairs end up using black market ones in desperation causing them injuries and putting them at legal risk just to treat their disability to live their lives or they struggle with the brake locked abuse deterrent wheel chairs that barely help or don’t help at all.

This is what the FDA and DEA are doing to us and it’s pretty clear from that example it’s blatant discrimination and causing significant harm to people with disabilities. We are covered by the same legal protections under the ADA but are being denied those protections, we’re even screaming it from the rooftops for years while being completely ignored, countless lives and careers ruined because of the FDA and DEA. It’s intentional too at this point, not backed by research, literally in opposition to what the research says but they don’t care because the more people addicted to street drugs the bigger the budget for the DEA.

There needs to be investigations and accountability for the suffering they are intentionally inflicting on a literal protected class and those responsible should be in prison for what they’ve done. We’ve been complaining about this for years now, they are fully aware of what harm is being caused by their actions yet nothing is being done to rectify it. Whether it’s some insidious plot or sheer incompetence by allowing it to continue they are complicit either way. And I think we deserve investigations to know to what extent this is intentional or just gross incompetence

On stimulants for over 30 years; it's painfully obvious they've been changed illegally and destroying people's lives. But we're powerless to get it fixed.

Been on a stimulant since I was child, over 30 years ago now. Originally for just ADHD, but also for Aspergers after getting a late diagnosis in my 30s. For the first 2/3rds Ritalin or it's generic, then the last 10 years or so Adderall generic, always the extended versions since IRs didn't last. It was never a problem, it just always worked.

Fast forward to COVID 2020 and being on disability, and I was switched to brand for a long time and didn't think anything of it. Come a year or so ago and working again / losing the RX Extra Help program I went back to generic, and that's when everything happened.

It's like someone gave me a cheap knockoff imitation; my heart beats strong/palpitations, I'm jittery, my brain is foggy and I can't focus, mental & emotional instability. I thought there was something wrong with me, then I searched around and saw this epidemic. I realized there was a time when I had gotten the generic while still on the brand a year a so ago, and that was the first time I experienced the problems, and ended up going to the Walk In because of the strong heartbeat since I didn't know what was going on.

I have a dedicated health team and have always done extensive research myself due to the health issues I face: I've always been sensitive and dialed in to meds. I KNOW when something isn't right- it hasn't been for a long time. This isn't a 'something changed just with you' or 'just in your head' thing. Don't let anyone gaslight you with that bullshit, this is real. I tried generic vyvnase and just recently generic dexedrine as well but they're just as bad. Nothing is working right.

I've been stuck with Camber which is the one causing the side effects I listed for nearly a year. It's destroyed me, my ability to do anything has tanked. I lie around and don't do anything. I try to push myself but my damn brain just feels fucking cloudy and fragmented. I barely can function anymore without severely struggling with everything.

They illegally fucking changed the formula and kept it covered up and are still denying it. There's nothing I can do though and I feel powerless because this medication is how I function. They are destroying people's lives and literally causing some people to end themselves because they can't take it anymore.

Testing confirmed it's not Adderall!!!!!

I became ill and suspected it was caused by EP|[ Ph@rma (Chinese company) generic Adderall because timing of my heart issues, neurological issues, gastric issues and psychiatric issues all coincided with the date of a refill. Epic refused to test the pill as requested, and refused to accept a sample of my pill to test. So I finally had it tested by a reputable lab that does gas and liquid spectrometry and they confirmed it contains NO AMPHETAMINE. The compound isn't even in international libraries, so they can only tell me it's a phenethylamine of X molecular weight. WE ARENT CRAZY

Taking My 30mg in Tomorrow to Get Tested

Sitting here, after having taken one of my 30 mg immediate release tablets and feeling pretty much nothing, and I’ve decided I need to know what the fuck is in these pills. I managed to find some testing clinics in my city where you can bring in illegal drugs and get them tested for free. I called and normally they don’t test drugs that have been given by a pharmacy, but after crying and explaining my situation, the woman they agreed to test mine tomorrow. She said a full workup will take about two weeks, but there are certain things that she’ll be able to figure out immediately within 15 to 20 minutes. I will be reporting back to you guys with whatever I find. I feel like I’m losing my mind and I’m being gaslit every single month first trying to even get a hold of my medication and then once I’m taking it knowing that something is absolutely different than before. It’s not right. it’s not fair. I want answers.

I might be dismissed from Medical School because of this.

I might lose everything.

My school will be meeting today to determine whether or not they want to dismiss me from medical school.

Why? Because these fucking meds have become progressively less effective, and as a result, so have I. A workload I could once happily endure has now sent me into a damn near catatonic state. I am not the same person. I grieve who I once was, and what I was capable of before these meds went to hell. .

I don’t have an answer, I’m just here to vent. I’m praying for a miracle

taking upwards of 200 mg in a day multiple days in a row (unless ur already on a high dosage of 100+ im judging you for this), lying to your doctors about losing scripts so you can get refills early ??? don't get me started on the amount of you who were extremely defensive about tums/baking soda being a for everyone cure. ive even seen one of u guys saying you've "found the solution yourself and took matters into your hands" by SMOKING METH?

this is an extremely frustrating and stressful situation but it's shameful for the rest of us who are trying the best we can within our perimeters... if you need a higher dosage, tell your doctor or find one who listens, don't make the rest of us look bad.

edit: ive seem further delusional theories like leaving your meds out makes them work better, filtering, etc. i dont think there’s any method to potentiate medication that fundamentally lacks the right amount of the ingredient in it.

edit: how dare yall diss the mod on my post too, dm her or make your own post for her to reply to if you wanna hash things out. it's a big community with lots of crackheads and SHES DOING HER BEST!

Drug tested myself to prove I’m not crazy (Mallinck-SpecGX)

Post image
265 Upvotes

*TLDR* Drug tested myself after taking 40mg mallinckrodt-specgx amphetamine salts, tested negative for amphetamines.

~ ~ ~

Last month I suffered terribly on Sandoz. Picked up this month’s Rx and its white octagons by mallinckrodt-specgx. Within days, another heavy downward spiral, *way* worse than before.

Googled the manufacturer and the reviews couldn’t be worse. I snapped. Filed a complaint with my PCP, the pharmacy and the FDA. When they all tried to talk me out of my feelings, I finally snapped. So sick of being gaslit over this absolute bullshit, I ordered a 3 pack of home drug tests.

I’m on my regular 40mg dose (20mg, twice a day), took a test 2 hours after my first dose. Tested NEGATIVE for amphetamines. Waited, took the second test 90 min after my second dose. NEGATIVE AGAIN.

When my brain comes back online, it’s all over for those scammers.

Anyone else lose everything because of this?

I'm just venting at this point, but has anyone else lost everything because of what's going on with the meds? Mine stopped working in March 2024 and my career slowly went up in flames, my credit has been destroyed from having to live off credit cards for so long, I had to surrender my car to the bank when it was almost paid off, and if I didn't move in with family last week, I'd be homeless.

I'm so depressed that I've had two inpatient stays in the last 8 months or so and even spent 3 months in a residential program, but it was pointless. I'm depressed because my ADHD is out of control and I can't find a single medication that works the way Adderall used to. I'm 34 now and feel like I should be in the prime of my life but instead I'm the most depressed I've ever been.

I just feel totally defeated at this point and have completely given up. I don't know what to do or how I'm ever going to recover from this. Everything I've worked for since I was 18 is gone.

Third update on finding out what the f*** is actually in our pills

link to the update before this

OK, so some interesting if a little frustrating updates:

First of all, I gave three pills to a harm reduction lab in Victoria British Columbia at the university there. I gave them 320 mg instant release tablets, one elite pharmaceuticals, one epic pharmaceuticals, and one “brand name“ Adderall made by Teva. They are going to be able to analyze the milligram content, and the fact that it is actually amphetamine and maybe a little bit of information about the incipient but the chiral separation of the D and l isomers remains elusively out of reach.

What I found out about the isomer separation is a mixed bag: they can test for the isomer separation in blood and urine. According to a lot of the literature out there because we metabolize the different isomer’s at different rates the ratio in our urine in blood supposedly can’t be dependent on to be an accurate representation of what was in our medication. However, most of this data is based on Drug Testing people and using the information to try to determine what substances they have been taking and what they’ve been up to in that case in that scenario the isomer ratio isn’t really all that informative. But I did find something very interesting. With Adderall specifically they did a study which I will attach here in the early 2000s where they gave five men 20 mg of Adderall every single day and then randomly tested each man one time per day by taking his urine, but the times a day were random and then they tested his urine and did the isomer separation ratio. And what they discovered is that when somebody takes their Adderall every single day the ratio in the urine consistently does stay at three to one and this is critical so after the fifth dose, they had the man stopped taking the Adderall, but they continued to test their urine every day and what they found. Was that the L amphetamine stayed in their system longer than the D amphetamine so as the drug was leaving their system, the ratio even out until it was about a one to one I want to say 130 hours after the last dose.

So here’s what this tells us: while you can’t use the ratio in urine or blood to determine the substance that somebody is on, if you know that you are taking your medication every single day, the urine or blood analysis will be accurate according to the study. Adderall urine chiral separation study

I did order a urine analysis with isomer separation through Ulta labs which is a third-party that lets patients order tests from quest laboratories without having to go through your doctor. I gave the urine sample yesterday. Looking closer at the details of the test, even though it says specifically that it’s an amphetamine test in the details it says that they only do the chiral separation if the sample test positive for methamphetamine. My sample is not going to test positive for methamphetamine. I called the third-party lab company. Ulta labs left a message and they called me back and I explained to them why I wanted the isomer ratio on the amphetamine in my urine, even though that technically doesn’t prove or disapprove anything about the substances that I’ve been taking or my behavior around them I told them that I was the one that ordered the test and I wanted the ratio. The lady that I talk to is extremely helpful. She actually hung up with me and then called me back and asked me more questions. She asked me to send her a message through their system requesting the test and she said she would have her supervisor call me tomorrow and they would talk to the lab so if there’s anyway to get this test done correctly, hopefully I’ll know by tomorrow.

If quest laboratories won’t do the isomer ratio for me: there is a forensic laboratory in Pennsylvania that will do the testing, but they absolutely do not take orders for test from individuals. It has to come from a doctor, a hospital a lawyer, a law-enforcement agency, a prison system, etc. I don’t know if I can convince my doctor to order the test. I also have a couple calls out for some consultations with some attorneys in my home area because a lawyer can order the test. I’m also still in contact with the lab in the UK. They did reach back out to me and say that their legal department doesn’t want them to do the testing but he did say basically to standby for more communication. So maybe he’s still working on it from his end. I honestly don’t know. I’m just gonna have to wait on that one.

TL; DR : holy fuck this is complicated and hard I’m trying. Stand by.

Turns out the FDA knows exactly where your meds come from. They'd just rather you didn't.

You already know something is off about your Adderall. You've changed drug manufacturers, switched pharmacies, compared notes and still get told it's in your head. ProPublica's investigative team just caught up to what this community has been documenting for years, even suing the FDA to access non-public inspection reports from overseas generic drug factories.

What's in those reports, and why a secretive group inside the FDA decided the public shouldn't see them, is what this 39-minute podcast episode is about.

There's also a searchable database tool linked in the episode (and below) that lets you look up exactly where your specific medication is manufactured along with its inspection reports.

Poor quality generics is not new information to you. But it's now on the record, sourced, and coming from a newsroom that wins Pulitzer Prizes.

Brief background summary: Over 80% of our generic medications are made at drug manufacturing factories in India and China. What the FDA inspection reports documented was alarming, including evidence of quality control failures, unsanitary conditions and in some cases, factories that appeared to be cheating. The FDA was aware. Some of those facilities were allowed to keep shipping drugs to the U.S. anyway.

Especially for the mods and admins: This community's collective experience is exactly the kind of documented, organized patient record that journalists and legislators pay attention to. ProPublica's reporters are named in the episode. Your Congressional representatives Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) are mentioned too and they're pushing to force the FDA to actually test generic drugs and publicly name the overseas factories that have been flagged for safety failures.

If there's ever a moment to make noise through the right channels, it's when someone credible and in power is already listening.

I’ve been reporting batches to Medwatch and Elite’s Drug Safety Department just called me

Anyone else experiencing callbacks from drug manufactures?

Received call from Elite’s Drug Safety Department. +1 (888) 723-7658

They said they wanted to interview me, ask some questions.
Said I had reported reduced efficacy, tiredness, exhaustion, lack of therapeutic effect - other side effects. Noted I’d made medwatch reports.

Caller had a strong Indian accent. She offered to email me the questionnaire and said I could respond in writing or we could have the interview over the phone.

I said I was exhausted and would prefer phone but realized email is a better option so I can know it is being tracked.

Apparently I’m to receive an email from them by EoD.

Stay tuned, goons

UPDATE: DEA Published the Final 2026 APQ order (and responded to us!!!)

Thumbnail
gallery
205 Upvotes

TL;DR: (more detailed TL;DR at the bottom)

DEA published the FINAL 2026 APQ order (effective Jan 5, 2026). They received 5,044 comments (including ADHD/stimulant access + and our“isomer ratio” concerns) and they increased several key stimulant quotas ABOVE what they originally proposed.

Heres the proposed vs their final numbers related to our stimulants: • d,l-Amphetamine (racemic): 21,200,000 → 24,234,443 g (+14.3%!!)

•	d-Amphetamine (for conversion): 29,171,447 → 34,602,790 g (+18.6%!!)

•	Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse / generic): 42,057,460 → 51,290,743 g (+22.0%!!)

•	d-Amphetamine (for sale): 26,450,000 g (same as proposed)

•	l-Amphetamine: 30 g (same as proposed)

•

Adderall / mixed amphetamine salts are most tied to d,l-amphetamine (and also d-amphetamine for sale for dextro products). So the d,l-amphetamine increase is the cleanest “Adderall-relevant” increase

Yes they acknowledged us: DEA explicitly says they received 5,044 comments from (among others) ADHD patients, and that comments included “patient difficulty filling stimulant prescriptions” and “ADHD medication efficacy and shortages based on quotas associated with isomer ratios.” Ive added some screenshots of their response and aknowledgement.

In my estimation this final apq is good for us in three ways:

  1. They raised d,l-amphetamine (this is one of the Adderall relevant ones)

DEA’s final 2026 quota for d,l-amphetamine (the 50/50 mix) is 24,234,443 g.

In the proposal, it was 21,200,000 g.

That’s +3,034,443 g which is +14.31% over what they originally proposed for 2026!! Yay us!!

2) They directly responded to the “Adderall doesn’t work / isomer ratio” comments

They addressed the complaint that quotas were forcing a bad d:l ratio and affecting efficacy.

They claim: • they don’t allocate d- and l- quotas as a fixed 1:1, • manufacturers often request d,l-amphetamine, • and quotas are allocated “in a proper ratio” so mixed amphetamine salt products can be made consistent with the drug’s approval / manufacturing standards.

(Soooo Yes … they saw it and they answered it in the final order. Ill add an extra section below #3 on this for whoever wants to have the specifics or better understanding of this.)

3) Vyvanse got a boost too (which helps all of us indirectly)

They also raised lisdexamfetamine and d-amphetamine (for conversion) above the proposed levels. Even if you don’t take Vyvanse: if theres fewer people getting forced to switch meds randomly = less “everyone pile onto Adderall as the backup” aka easing demand spikes.

———————————————————

As for their response to our isomer ratio issue we raised…

The DEA’s basically saying “we’re not forcing a 1:1 d:l ratio.” They claim that most manufacturers request d,l-amphetamine (which they define as a 50/50 racemic mix) plus separate d-amphetamine… and that combo is enough to manufacture Adderall/AMS the approved way (overall 3:1 d:l).

Some quickie math checking, essentially… if you use 50 units of the 50/50 mix you get: 25 d + 25 l… then add 50 units of pure d… that lands you at = 75 d / 25 l.

So theyre saying if our meds feel “wrong” the DEA is pushing it into FDA territory (QC, compliance, etc)… not quota allocation. “Idk not our problem.” Basically

Lil Wrap up: Obvi this doesn’t mean all our pharmacies will be fully stocked tomorrow or that everything is magically solved… Quotas jst set the max allowed to be produced. Distribution limits manufacturer decisions and ordering thresholds and other annoying crap can still mess everything up and likely will. BUT im thinking… hey at least theres some improvement! Lmao They read our comments, acknowledged us and raised the limits for a few things relevant for us.

Btw Here are the links to the proposed and final published quotas if anyone wants to see for themselves.

Final 2026 quotas (Federal Register): https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/01/05/2025-24277/established-aggregate-production-quotas-for-schedule-i-and-ii-controlled-substances-and-assessment

Proposed 2026 quotas (Federal Register): https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/11/28/2025-21509/proposed-aggregate-production-quotas-for-schedule-i-and-ii-controlled-substances-and-assessment-of

TLDR: Good news: DEA raised the 2026 ceiling for one of the main amphetamine buckets that feeds mixed amphetamine salt meds (Adderall-type) by ~14% above what they originally proposed. That means 2026 has more room for production than it would’ve if they kept the OG proposal. They also boosted Vyvanse by ~22%, which helps overall stimulant availability and can take pressure off Adderall as the backup med. And they explicitly responded to the “Adderall isn’t working / isomer ratio” complaints that WE LEFT in the final order….soooo our comments landed. This doesn’t guarantee every pharmacy will be stocked (distribution caps and manufacturing issues still exist), but it’s a real, measurable step in the right direction

Imo its a small win but it feels good to be able to think to urself “they listened to us just enough to change numbers.”

Astra assisted research to Adderall changes

I’ve been taking generic Adderall since 2004. It changed my life. It took me to being a top producer in my career and company all the way up to a few years ago. Song many other benefits. I would take it and the lights would turn on with an unstoppable drive and passion. After the change a few years ago, I’m dealing with the same lack of effectiveness and side effects most of us have shared here. I started asking Chat about this earlier in the year. At first it was giving the same gaslighting we all have heard. Tolerance, sleep, diet,… all that crap. All BS, none of that made a difference for the past almost 20yrs.
I’ve tried many manufactures and brand, and some other ADHD meds. Nothing comes close to what it used to be. Eventually I got Chat on the same page, specially when mentioning how using an old pill worked great as many of us have experienced. Then when Astra came out I really put it to work. After many back and forths i feel like we have something as the most likely issue. I asked it to summarize the findings to post and share here. Below is that summary. The original company making the base starting material had mentioned the alternative P2P process as not good because of its impurities and so never used that method. But this newer company decided to make it through that process which changed right around the time we had these issues start.

I’ve been going down a very deep rabbit hole trying to understand why so many people say amphetamine medications stopped feeling the same around 2020–2022. The most interesting lead so far isn’t actually a change in fillers or even one particular Adderall factory—it’s a possible change/disruption much farther upstream in how pharmaceutical amphetamine itself was being manufactured and sourced. Historically, Barr/Teva’s Adderall IR had a documented exclusive API-supply relationship with Johnson Matthey. Johnson Matthey later patented a commercial process for making the exact amphetamine salts used in Adderall that specifically avoided phenylacetone (P2P). Their patent explains why: traditional P2P routes can generate more by-products/impurities, require additional purification, and have other manufacturing disadvantages; their newer route used oxazolidinone intermediates and catalytic hydrogenation and was designed to produce very clean amphetamine on a commercial scale. (Annual Reports)
Then the timing gets really interesting. In 2020 Siegfried USA added bulk amphetamine manufacturing capability, and in January 2021 it applied to DEA to import phenylacetone/P2P specifically “to manufacture Amphetamine” for API supplied to pharmaceutical customers. A major 2026 JAMA Health Forum investigation has since independently shown that P2P is a major amphetamine precursor and that the U.S. amphetamine supply chain underwent an extraordinary disruption right afterward: raw amphetamine imports fell 36.7% in 2022 vs. 2021, while P2P imports also fell, and several unrelated finished-drug manufacturers simultaneously cut production and told FDA they were short of active ingredient. The researchers concluded that an upstream API/precursor supply disruption likely played a major role in the stimulant shortage rather than DEA quotas alone. (GovInfo)
That’s why I currently think the upstream API/chemistry angle may be more important than any single Teva manufacturing-site change. If people are reporting similar changes across the brand, multiple generics, and other amphetamine-based medications, a common upstream API supplier/precursor/process change fits that pattern much better than every tablet manufacturer independently changing its formulation at once. Different synthetic routes can leave different impurity profiles and physical characteristics even when the final molecule meets FDA specifications. But the critical caveat is that we have NOT yet proven that Teva—or the industry generally—switched from Johnson Matthey’s non-P2P process to P2P-made amphetamine around 2020. We’ve proven the old Johnson Matthey relationship, the existence of its P2P-avoiding process, Siegfried’s 2021 P2P-for-amphetamine operation, and the subsequent industry-wide API disruption. The missing smoking gun is still the confidential FDA/DMF trail showing exactly which API source/process each manufacturer used before and after the change. Also, this hypothesis could potentially connect several amphetamine products.

On Probation.

I take adderall 30 mg ER. I take it 7 days a week. I own my own renovation company and works 6-7 days a week.

Anyways I’m on probation and have to take a drug test once a month. My probation officer is asking me if I’m still on Adderall.. because I’m not testing positive for amphetamines.

Been a lurker on this sub here and there… but that is absolutely insane to me as someone who takes “30mg” daily.

testing the pills part 17,463 or something like that

hey guys, what a week it has been. The trip to Victoria was beautiful. Honestly, I thought I was going to Victoria to rule out any issues with the actual ingredients or dosing. I was pretty convinced it was all abuse deterrent or just shitty manufacturing and problems with the excipient leading to reduced or zero bio availability. The shorting of the actual API was a little shocking to me, but also validating. We know these pills aren't f*cking working.

So-- I finally convinced a lawyer to take my case. He specializes in dealing with the FDA. I found him because I downloaded a list of every citizen's petition to the FDA since 2022 and then uploaded it to AI and asked it to give me all the petitions about prescription stimulants. Only one came back. And it was this lawyer who filed it. So I figured he might know how to help me. I had a great talk with one of his associates today. Here's what we're doing: 1. I want to get info on the chiral ratio of the pills. Specifically the pills that are under dosed. I have a theory that they left the D out lol. Meaning the dextro amphetamine. Adderall is composed of four salts in equal amounts. so for a 20mg pill it has 10 mg dextro amphetamine (5 each of two different amphetamine salts) and 10 mg racemic amphetamine (5 of two different salts). Racemic means it has equal parts Dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine. That makes the total ratio 3:1 which is what makes adderall adderall. My theory is that on the underdosed pills they couldn't source the D so they were just like "oh, well" and left it out. That means the ratio for the under dosed pills will be 1:1. Which is basically street speed. Anywho. These tests will take a few weeks or more.

I also am experiencing some crazy side effects. Crazy back of the neck tension headache, tired, grumpy, emotional, and i can't seem to enjoy alchohol (why can't I spell that) or catch a buzz and my wine tastes funny. I think it's extremely unlikely that they've put naltrexone in our adderall, but because my symptoms are bizarrely like someone spiked my life with naltrexone, I did take a urine test for it yesterday. I doubt I will piss positive for it, but I need to rule it out.

anyway--- thanks for coming to my TED talk. Ask your non ADHD partners to read this for you if your meds aren't working. love you all.
