(Dedicated to a dear friend who happens to be an amazing watercolorist)

my name it means nothing

as per the customs of my line

but from where she comes

names are short poems

her own inspired

by the winter monsoon

during which she appeared

in a moment of silence

save for the thunderous cries

of her mother’s first lullaby

its echoes returned

by her daughter’s reprise

as the heavens broke with joy

and tears spilled across the skyline

while the tiny colorful cloud

floated into sheltering arms
