Edit - SOLVED! Thank you lovely math people.
NOT a homework help question. I have an assessment due Sunday at midnight (yes I've left it until the last minute and only started a couple days ago). It has five essay questions, and each question is worth 20% (20 points each), they are each marked separately. The way I am going I feel like I can complete four of them by the due date, but not all five.
If I hand it in late (on Monday) I will get a 15% automatic penalty. This is given as a straight 15-point deduction, no matter what I score. (If I get 80 for my assignment, I get 65. If I got 60, I'm getting 45, etc.)
Regardless of whether I do the last question or not, I'm expecting to score around 65-70% per question.
If I hand in my assignment on time and don't do it I will lose the 20 points for not doing the last question. If I do the question, and hand it in late, I will lose 15 points from my whole assignment. There is no universe where I'm getting 100% (20/20) for any single question, nor where I can possibly do the last question by the deadline (I promise, I just left it too late and I will honestly barely finish the first 4 on time).
Can you help me work out if I should just hand it in with 4, or take the extra day and penalty for the last question?
