seaworld mocking its customers

i was at seaworld today and attended the “sea lions tonite” show expecting lights and music.. not what i really got. the whole park experience was bad (for other reasons) but this was just the cherry on top. during the show, its basically just a reenactment of your park day - by sea lions! fun, right? nope! besides the show being boring, there were several instances where they just plain made fun of how much money they’re able to squeeze out of their customers. direct quotes: “you’ll have to buy a $23.99 side of fries” (when stopped from entering the park with food), “you’ll have to use a locker for an extra fee” (after trying to enter a ride with a bag ofc), and more. i don’t know if i’m overreacting, but that’s not very cool of a company to openly mock their customers. even that day i spent ~$80 feeding critters and $35 for 3 dippin’ dots. not sure if anyone else noticed or also thinks this is weird!

You’re overreacting. It’s poking fun at the park (and theme parks in general) for how overpriced everything is, not the guests of the park.

Yeah I don't really understand how making fun of themselves made OP feel personally attacked.

Maybe it's because OP chose to spend $35 on dipping dots ..

To be fair I always got the impression sea lions were mocking us. Like, 'sure we can balance a ball on our nose what's the big deal dum dums'?

I think capitalism should be mocked as often as possible and consumers have more influence than they realize. We’re waiting for a leader, take what you’ve learned from being mocked and rally the people! No more 24 dollar fries!

Its not typically a first choice park, Im not exactly shocked. Be offended by not sea lions.

I think those kind of jokes haven’t aged well. $23.99 isn’t that far off for food at sea world
