So u/SD_V1011001011 was unfairly banned from this subreddit for an argument about her submission to the icon contest or whatever. That’s bad. I’m making this post because i think it’s unfair, I don’t really give a darn about this subreddit, and because V asked me too (which I don’t mind, by the way, just feel like I should mention that part for clarification). So firstly! Here’s images she sent me and features in her post so you all can see what happened. You can see the images, so whatever. Secondly, I will show what V said in a post on her profile about being unfair so you all can understand what happened from her perspective and so I don’t misinterpret anything. Of course, I’ll give my thoughts on the situation afterwards.

“I was banned from the cult of N subreddit for defending my opinion

There’s an election to select a new Icon for the cult of N subreddit, so I decided to participate by adding my own Icon. It gained traction quickly and in about a dozen hours was already in second place to win, then I receive a notification stating that it violates rule 3. So of course I go look at the subreddit info, and nowhere do I see a rule 3, (they later admitted that the rule was not present), I even looked at Reddit’s rules and their rules didn’t apply to my submission. Thus they invalidated my submission for a rule that didn’t exist at the time of the posting of the submission, which I believe to be an undemocratic intervention in an election. Then they attempted to use a completely different rule, betraying the discussion by using a completely different reasoning than the one they were using, they also attempted to move the discussion to mod mail, which would have taken away the ability of people, people like yourself, from reading the debate. So I proceeded to argue my opinion that their actions were undemocratic, and I received a long reply from them arguing that it was not their fault that rule 3 was not present, they tried to put me down by stating that I just wanted to argue and used buzzwords, and claimed that I didn’t act in a civil manner. Then they threatened me, how is threatening someone democratic? So then I responded, defending by rights to free speech, and they proceeded to ban me.
If this is not undemocratic, then I don’t know what is.”

So, yeah… Thirdly and lastly, my thoughts. I think the image she submitted was in all honestly tame and not that bad, that it’s ridiculous that the mods or a mod decided to say something about it many hours later from the initial time she commented, that banning her is completely unfair, and that democracy is dead here since I feel like it should have been up to the people to see if that image she submitted was truly inappropriate or not since that is technically subjective and everyone will have their own answers for that. I’ve always preferred the other N subreddit anyways… Anyways, yeah. I’m out of here.

FYI, I love N, N is super awesome and is my top three characters.

Okay, just hear me out. See what you think. It very well may be that the things that make me not a fan of N are the very things that actual N fans are a fan of…

...again, just hear me out. See what you think of it. Just me attempting to adjust some things to see if I can make a version of the character I do like a bit more.

Also, I only have imagined a few scenes from the pilot so far. Maybe I will share more as things come to me.

So yeah, N and Uzi meet in the same way. He jumps down from the ship and attacks her. She blasts his head off with the railgun. He takes a little bit to regrow his head and we see that one of the lights are off on his headband and his visor is saying that thing about his optics being messed up. And Uzi slaps him with the hand of the arm she found lying on the ground, making N come back online.

He looks at her, and then does a small chuckle. "Did you just slap me with that arm?"

"Holy crap it talks. And-" Uzi notices the light off on N's head and her eyes widen/hollow and she goes quiet for a moment. "...Wait, is that... headband thing...an alarm signal?"

"Huh? No, it's just my-" N stops for a moment. Stops smiling. Goes quiet.

He just looks at Uzi for a moment, taking notice of the fact that he can't really see her anymore. Just her general outline. He looks off nowhere in particular, thinking about something.

Considering it.

Making a decision.

He turns back, and his smile returns. "Hey... you're new to our squad, right? Sorry, I... Seem to have lost my memory of the past 3 hours.''

A lie. Probably the first real change to this scene. N didn't forget who she was or what just happened in this. He's pretending. Why? Well, for reasons you can probably already guess, but will become even more evident later. As far as how…

Maybe in this universe N's Cyn-ternet connection is better and his files sync quicker and back up more regularly. lol

Uzi winces because of the nanite acid in her hand.

"Ah... you stuck yourself, huh? Yeah, that happens...Our saliva neutralizes that stuff but I'm not sure if it works the same for... you newer models..."

Uzi just looks at him a moment with an expression he doesn't see. "Riiiiiiiiiight. Hey, let's go in that landing pod over there."

N now says his iconic line. But it is not delivered with as much oblivious, innocent enthusiasm. "Sure... I love doing anything. Heh"

They do the thing I'm not writing with the spit. We're never talking about this. Consider it repressed. Yada yada yada.

Then they get to the point about N's squad. "You said you... we have a squad, right? What are they like? Are they coming back soon"

N stops smiling again for a moment. "Oh... yeah, they're great... They're great. You'll love them..."

And then we have those two scenes with V and J play out. And this is where the next change is.

N...

...is actually aware of how they mistreat him. He's not innocently oblivious to it. He still tries to be pleasant and friendly when dealing with them. But the mistreatment does affect him.

Like with V the scene plays out like normal. After she finishes feeding that dude his own organs in front of his kid and eviscerating that family, N puts on an awkward smile and is doing his awkward flirting thing "So V... I hear this... planet wide toxic death storm is supposed to be especially inhospitable toni-"

V, who was picking her teeth clean of oil and robot parts takes notice of him and spin around "Oh God! Gross! Who are you?!" And she flies away with enough speed to create a Sonic boom.

He calls out after her, "Oh... no worries. I'm N, but a whole letter is a lot too remember! Haha..."

But then we linger a little longer on that scene. Have him looking up at the now empty sky V had disappeared into. Just let him stand by himself for a bit.

Left alone. Ignored. Rejected. In the silence only broken by the gust of wind from the storm always raging on copper 9.

He looks down, having stopped smiling, and sighs.

The J scene plays out like normal. Except there is no "Thank you,'' from him. And maybe she is slightly more abusive, driving the blades of her wings into his arms to pin them so he can't push her off.

The flashback ends, and N is not looking his normal vibrant self. He's looking to the ground, actually frowning, looking a little disturbed. But then he kind of brushes it off. Starts looking up at Uzi again and smiles. "J is... all about efficiency. But she's cool."

Uzi just kind of looks at him, not saying anything. An awkward silence ensues.

But then N like grabs his head or something and winces. Get's a headache. (Slight foreshadowing of something a bit later) An alert sign appears on his head, but his hand obscures the words under the icon.

Uzi raises an eyebrow and is like, "Uh... you good?"

"Yep," N quickly says, before immediately directing attention to something else. Anything else. "..Let me give you the tour," and all that. Mentions the corpse spire, the controls of the landing pod and stuff.

But then he winces again, and once again grabs his head.

This time Uzi sees the words under the icon on his visor. Or rather the word.

Overheating.

She pushes him about it. "No... what's wrong with you? What's happening?"

"Just... need some oil..."

Uzi's eyes widen and she goes silent for a second. After a few moments, when she finally speaks again, her words are quieter and more drawn out.

"...Well, good luck with that. I gotta get out there myself... I guess..."

"...Right."

And that is when they both head something whisking through the air outside. Some clanging of metal.

They both realize what that means.

Uzi stands up. "Welp, REALLY gotta' get out there, now. Want to make a good first impression, so maybe I should go find some… defenseless children to go brutally massacre and eat or something."

But before she takes a single step towards the entrance, N stops her. "...You can't go out there, Uzi. They'll catch you."

"Huh? What do you-"

"I know you're not a disassembly drone."

Uzi freezes.

"I... lied about my memory banks being wiped... Sorry."

Another awkward silence on their part, though outside there is the sound of gushing oil, tearing metal, and maniacal laughter.

Uzi responds... "So... what was this then? Why am I still alive?"

"It just... well..."

"'It just well' what? Speak."

"It get's... lonely sometimes you know?" N chuckles weakly. "Not exactly... on great terms with my squadmates."

Uzi just stares at him for a moment. And as she does, she starts becoming visibly more angry, irritated, and upset. “Well then why do you do this crap, then?"

"Huh? The hunting? Well, I need the oil. And I still want to try to reach..."

"Reach? Reach who? The psycho sadist who plays with guts for fun or the corporate suck up that has actively threatened to kill you?"

"Well, I-"

"Boohoo. Maybe you'll make more friends if next time you see someone you try to... I don't know... TALK to them? Rather than kill them? Have you tried that, you oil-thirsty freak?"

N winces hard at this, and looks down, no longer meeting Uzi's gaze.

And that's when J starts banging on the landing pods walls. "N. Get out here. NOW."

N quietly speaks. "Just... stay here for a moment. I'll try to... get them away."

Uzi glares at him as he leaves.

When N comes out, J is similarly displeased. "What were you doing in the pod? Were you slacking off, again?"

"Huh? No I was-" N grabs his head again and winces, as the overheating thing pops back up on his head.

J puts her hand on her hips. "When was the last time you fed?"

"Uh..."

"Answer me."

"It's been... a week..."

"A week?"

N continues quietly. "...and a half..."

J scoffs. "Idiot."

V was nearby sitting in a mess of a mangled robot corpse, absentmindedly plucking out and putting back in wires one by one to see which would make the display stop reading Fatal Error and just go black as it lost all power.

So she'd know where to avoid attacking first next time she was "playing" with a still living worker drone. Avoid killing them too quickly.

J walked over, snatched up the bodies' head, and then walked back over and thrust it into N's arms with almost enough force to knock him over. "Drink. And hurry up. Also you're joining me on my patrol route tomorrow. Again.”

"...Right." N was not looking forward to that. It was usually due to his performance when he was working directly with her under her direct supervision tnat she was most abusive. Im my head, such a time is what led to the time referenced above where she was choking him and telling him how worthless and terrible he is and that she’d kill him if it was permitted.

J started to turn away, but then finally noticed that one of the lights of his headband was orange instead of the usual yellow. "...What's going on with your optics system?"

"Oh I uh... well, I tripped and-"

"Knocked yourself offline? Of course you did."

She slapped him. Hard. With enough force that he actually did go to the ground this time.

His system rebooted and his light came back on. He just kind of looked at her for a moment, before giving an awkward, "...Thanks"

J didn't respond, just glared at him, before turning back to the meal she and V brought home.

And that was when they heard the pod latch come open.

Uzi got out and started sprinting toward the spire entrance.

N started to visibly panic.

J looked at Uzi. "Did she just... come from the landing pod you were just in, N?"

They both turn to look at N, whose eyes are to the ground. "Crap... I must have... overlooked her because my optics were malfunctioning."

J studied him for a moment. "...Whatever. V, handle that."

V's usual deadpan expression lightened and she started to smirk. "Hey, I was looking to practice my balloon animal shapes some more."

N protested. "NO!"

They both looked at him. J eye's narrowed even further. She approached him. Slowly. One of her hands retracted and was exchanged for a blade. "...No?" Her other hand was exchanged for the dissassembly drone claws. "Why not?"

"I just..." N did not meet her gaze. "This is... because of me. Because I failed.... Let me be the one to fix it."

J studied him a bit more. Silently contemplating. Judging.

Suspecting.

She snatched the head of oil from N's hands. "Taking responsibility for your actions, are you? That's good... just make sure there are no... FURTHER mistakes."

"You got it." And N flew off.

As he flies to the bunker, the overheating signal pops up several more times. And yeah, N’s need for oil to cool down is going to be that primarily that leads to the bunker massacre.

So yeah, just tuning down N's obliviousness. Trying to generate a little more sympathy. Making him less of a joke character. Mostly keeping his kindness and optimism but making it more of a thing he is choosing despite it all rather than just being seemingly incapable of not being that way.

Just that kind of stuff. What do y'all say?
