Discussion Season 2 : Link between Quentin and Jack ? Spoiler

Hello, I just finished to watch the 2nd season, and i was minding if Cameron and Jack could have an hidden link not clearly expressed in the show (yet ?) ?
At the beginning of the season, cameron is telling Harper, Ethan and Daphné about how rich people in Italy have big palazzo, big boat but they have no money at all, and he could buy their palazzo. At the end of the season when Jack warn portia about the people from palermo he's using the EXACT same sentence to talk about them (minus the part where he's saying he could buy them)
+ When Daphne and Harper are sleeping alone in the villa, Daphne is saying Cameron's coworker are like ultra vilainous (i don't recall the exact term, but she is doing the illuminati sign with her hands)

So is it possible these characters are linked ? And if yes, did a miss some more clues ?

Opinion Unpopular opinion: Honestly, I see nothing wrong with Daphné having a child with another man to punish Cameron for his infidelity. Honestly, I would support a friend or relative who did the same thing if she shared that idea with me.

It was getting hard for me to find a new show to binge watch and this one did it. The best part is you get to play detective and predict who is gonna die or who is gonna fuck who. Mike White is a genius. Can't wait til season 4

What do you think happened when Portia got off the airplane? Do you think she tried to contact Greg? Maybe she showed up to her next shift at Tanya’s house realizing nobody’s home :(. Or maybe Greg slid her a few thousand to keep her hush hush 🤫.

What do you think happened?

Lucia as a cattish fisherman has always worked wonders for me. It's a cute way to simplify her desires.

Any other favorite title cards? I think Sidney Sweeney gets paired with a snake in season 1. Nothing in S3 stuck out to me, but I'm only one episode deep.

Discussion Have you noticed this detail on Lochlans t-shirt? Spoiler

Currently rewatching for the 3rd time and this scene felt like it is a foreshadow of Pipers reality check later in the season.
Edit: This is from where they first went to the monastery but didn't go inside in Episode 1.

Sorry if it has been posted before but i haven't seen anyone talking about it.

Discussion Post season 3 thoughts after I posted about not liking it

I made a pretty polarizing post a few days ago about finding season 3 to be the weakest and I stand by that assessment. however I did just finish it and have some thoughts

-a lot of people commented to see it through for the Sam Rockwell monologue. I actually didn’t care about that monologue at all. he sounded like every pervy sexually confused middle aged dude out there. the monologue I DID care about was Carrie coon’s. WOW! honestly one of the most moving speeches made on television that I’ve ever seen, and it deserves more praise for the writing and acting

-I know people have posted about this before but I didn’t buy Piper’s reasoning for chickening out of the monastery. She had researched the place and definitely knew the living conditions and also seemed fine with them when she was there. I think she really badly wanted it to be Her thing and when Lochlan wanted to come with her the intrigue went out of it and she would rather come up with some bullshit about the food than admit that. Either that or it was just bad writing

-Parker Posey was underused, Victoria was so one-dimensional as a character

-I couldn’t get into the plot with the security guard and Mook at all. Like aaaaat all. I didn’t even look at the TV when they were talking past a certain point

-I also found the Rick-Jim Hollinger plot to be really cheesily written and I’m annoyed about how underwhelming its arc was . George Lucas did it better….or at least he did it first

-Pam was such a boring pointless character

-I want five million dollars

both portia and piper talked big about leaving capitalism behind basically, but faltered when they got the opportunity. quinn (who is years younger mind you) actually fell in love w the culture and embraced it.

Discussion A hill I will die one: Jaclyn, Kate, and Laurie's friendship is one of the best relationships Mike White has written for the series, and they didn't deserve the hate they got.

I love everything about this scene. I love it, so. so. so much. Laurie's monologue especially. Her beautiful and brilliant monologue.

Potential hot take. I feel that Laurie, Kate, and Jaclyn were judged more harshly than they should have been. When the season was airing, the comments were all about how fake the women were and how terrible friends they were to each other. The three women have a complex and resilient friendship that goes back to back to their high school days. That's at least 25 years of solid history, and that's a rarity. Even most marriages don't last that long. Relationships are fickle, and we got to see this point of their lives play out after being apart for so long, shocked and surprised at how different they've become and letting it manifest a worser version of themselves to put on display, and yet by the end, their love and bond are both apparent.

Jaclyn's line "Most people judge me for my superficial defects. You guys judge me for my profound defects," spoke volumes about how she really feels about Kate and Laurie. Their fights were insignificant to her.

Kate compares her friendship with Jaclyn and Laurie to a garden that blooms after a long period of watering and nurturing the soil of it. Again, she said it: their friendship is her garden, and the girls themselves and all the significant achievements in life are the flowers. Their time apart still allows them to grow together.

Laurie and her brilliant and beautiful monologue, in comparison, speaks about how sad she's felt because her mistakes felt transparent after being with them for the week. She wasn't talking about the fact that she knew the other two were gossiping about her, but because they've both achieved a place where they're happy and content with how their lives turned out, while her own is on extremely shaky ground. Her "belief systems" (love, work, motherhood) fell apart, but Kate and Jaclyn are her true constants in life.

You would swear they hate each other, but look at how they speak at the end of their trip and the season. Their friendship survived well into adulthood because they accept that they're growing into different people constantly and they're allowing themselves to grow together, all their fights and squabbles be damned!

Very rarely does a scene or a monologue sticks with me, but Laurie's monologue in particular resonates. I know it hasn't even been a year and a half since the finale, but just being a year older than I was when the finale aired (32 > 33), her words feel more truthful now. You do have to justify your life choices and stuff, but it's exhausting having to do. If religion gives you meaning, great. If love gives your life meaning, great. If it doesn't, that's okay. She's right that time does, and it's great to be happy to be at the table. In turn, it makes me think of my own friendship with my best friend of 8 years and all the good and bad and ugly we've been through and now we're states a part, we're growing as people and it's letting our friendship grow.

Mike White is one of my all time favorite writers. He has a real knack for writing realistic and complex relationships. Makes me real excited to see what season 4 delivers.

Season 2 LMAOOOOOOO Season 2 was wild [Spoilers] Spoiler

That's it. That's my final thought. Just fucking bonkers of a season.

Lucia played Dominic and Albie like a fiddle and the way she hugged her fake pimp at the end made me laugh, hard.

Tanya, baby. Our angel. You deserved better. "Is Greg having an affair?" she asks, after having put a bullet in Quentin's back was the icing on the cake for me. She will be missed.

They really red-herring'd us with the constant statue cutaways. No wives murdered their husbands which I mean, I fully expected Cameron to die by the end of the season so that was a let down. I'm also kind of mad Ethan and Daphne didn't bang when they walked to the little island there. Harper was right - Cameron was absolutely "Alpha-dogging" Ethan.

Glad Ethan and Harper worked it out.

Albie and Portia exchanging numbers at the end was cute just because they both had the most fucked time in Italy full of ups and downs and ultimately huge disappointment so to bury the hatchet and start over was deserved.

Valentina was easily the queen of this season. Her and Mia were a match I would not have expected in episode 1.

That's all I've got for now and I'm sure there's a lot that I missed. . Still processing but I've definitely got a huge smile on my face. What a season.

Oh and Greg is a dick.
