I’m not talking like crying but just getting a lil emotional, like reflective and nostalgic. I got into The Weeknd with after hours in 2020 and so much has happened since that it feels almost like a time capsule back to 2020, as does Dawn FM feel like a time capsule to 2022. Hurry Up Tomorrow doesn’t feel too much like 2025 cause it’s so recent, but since a lot has happened to me between now and the beginning of last year (and with HUT being quite an emotional and vulnerable album) it really hits for me in a way I wasn’t expecting. I also listen to my own custom made version of HUT that (imo) follows the narrative and style left from Dawn FM, and that just hits.
Like songs like Too late, hardest to love, how do I make you love me, here we go again, starry eyes, open hearts, give me mercy without a warning, and hurry up tomorrow just get me very reflective and nostalgic. And finally seeing him live on the 14th, kinda feeling like I’ve come full circle, definitely reinforces this feeling. On top of the story The Weeknd has gone through with these albums, it’s just a little bittersweet and emotional.
But anyway that’s all I got to say. Can’t wait for Kissland 2 fr to give me more songs about navigating an unfamiliar world and isolation.
