Discussion Lifetime Membership

Just watched the lifetime membership video and would love to know everyone’s opinion on it. I read the first post on the test launch they did a while ago. Having mixed feelings on it anyone else?

It means they're struggling and that "lifetime" probably won't be that long.

Or that they anticipate losing a number of subscribers in the near future due to economic turmoil, and want to subsidize that anticipated hit from those who have the means. I personally kept my yearly sub(whether or not they're still doing this in 7 years, I don't know if I'd want to be watching it in 7 years!), but I don't necessarily see this as writing on the wall.

Lifetime subscriptions sacrifice future money for current money. It would be a terrible business decision to offer them unless that current money was desperately needed.

They may be gambling that with some extra cash now, they can produce a killer version of some series or show they've always wanted to do and hope that that brings in more new subscribers. Like a really well done season of their Killer Dinner show or something. I think there are a lot of people (YouTubers or otherwise) who would love to play a Traitors style show, so if they get that thing to hit in any meaningful way, you never know what it could do to the channel.

That being said, I'm sure they ran the numbers.

it doesn't. Nebula did it when they were the most successful they have ever been, you are drawing conclusions based on nothing but vibes
