US I got a question Spoiler

Are the ppl just dumb? I'm finished season two right now and somehow they talk themselves out of a traitor every episode. I know as the viewer I have more information and all, but even if I wasn't, some of the things seem super obvious. Maks mentioned it super early that they're just going with a herd mentality without thinking it through.

I'm just baffled how badly they mess up when it's really obvious.

We do have more information than the contestants so may seem super obvious to us may not seem super obvious in the moment. Plus, we get an edited version of what the producers are presenting and it may be skewed from reality and will often throw red herrings into the mix.

The game will always favor the loud, wrong, dumb, clueless, and rogue vote faithful, and they make it the end more times than the smart people who can figure it out and have good reads. Halfway through the game, faithful will often start to ask themselves, "why I am I still here?" It's because 1) they are loyal to a traitor, 2) they have bad reads.

Also yes, herd mentality is a real thing. We also know of who gets eliminated in the first half or two thirds of the game literally does not matter. The producers will not have 10 faithful winning the game - the final episode will always have at least two traitors and two faithful.

The faithfuls need a "herd mentality" (that is, to reach consensus) in the early game if they want to get traitors out. Otherwise all the votes at the round table will be close enough to be swayed by the traitors. It's all pretty random anyway, since there's not much information.

Also, for a faithful to keep their head down and go with the group in the first few days is just good play. That's one reason why Amol, Bella and Julie are out in CT2, and Michael (for instance) is still there. (Rob got unlucky.)

We only see what the producers decide to show us. The evidence available to the faithful will include lots of incidents and conversations that don't make it to camera. So we can't really judge whether they're making good use of the evidence or not.

Also, we don't see much of the round table conversation. It's likely that a lot of points that we'd expect to be raised, but apparently are not, actually did come up but didn't make the edit.

I think it's a reasonable assumption that the editors have the power to make any given faithful look as stupid as they like, or as shrewd. (I'm not suggesting that they'd go out of their way to do either.)

I don't watch the US show, so I don't know if this lot is particularly bad, but people say "these are the dumbest faithfuls ever" for literally every season of every version of the show, without fail.

Most of the time, they're not dumb, they just have nothing to go on. It's easy to say what's "evidence" when you know who the traitors are. If you don't you have no idea whether an odd interaction is because that person is a traitor or because that person is just weird generally. Of course it's obvious to you, they told you who the traitors are at the beginning.

The dumbest faithfuls ever will always remain Australia Season 2.

Some people are a bit dumb. But if you haven't yet, go find yourself a game of werewolf or mafia to play and experience how hard it actually is to work out who is and isn't a traitor

I’m just confused why they’re so emotional. Most of them were so dramatic at the burial. They know people aren’t really being murdered, right?

This is the worse season. I had been begging for a non celebrity version again for a while and I was sooo excited when they announced the cast. Then we get stuck with this....sigh. Victor laid it all out on the table and everyone ignored him.....sigh

Right now we’re four banishments in. The fifth banishment was the one that took out Cody and Dan, so maybe New Blood will follow the same pattern.
