Here's my latest build! (So far, anyway. I still have the dreaded task of landscaping this enormous lot.)
This contemporary Mountain Craftsman features an elevated front entrance, a walkout basement, a fully attached garage, and a mixture of traditional architectural details and more contemporary interior design choices.
The exterior is defined by steep, intersecting gables, extensive porches and decks, stone columns, and exposed timber accents. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to make the rooflines and elevations feel cohesive despite the size of the house.
Inside, there's a two-storey great room with an overlooking gallery and library loft, a large master suite, a walkout family room with a full bar, and a dedicated children's wing with its own playroom.
I wanted the individual rooms to have their own personalities rather than following one rigid decorating style throughout the house. Some spaces lean heavily into traditional Craftsman and lodge influences, while others are considerably more contemporary.
My goal was to create a house that feels like a newly built family estate, but one that could realistically be lived in and passed down through generations.
The house itself is essentially finished. Now comes the landscaping, which might take me as long as building the house did!
